  1. Did anyone apply and get accepted? I saw some acceptances on the results board.
  2. Has anyone experienced trying to get LOR from an online post bad program? I am currently starting to worry if I'll be bale to get any from my online professors since they have never met me.
  3. From what I know, UCF and Nova are the only two in FL that have spring admissions. I would say Nova would be less competitive out of the two, but you never know.
  4. I feel the same way. If ASHA pre accredited them then they shouldn't have a problem after that. I want to see how the first fall 2014 class goes than i may apply for fall 2015! Jacksonville is an awesome area to live in ive heard. They do have otehr health care related programs here as well so I believe it is a reputable school.
  5. You gave me hope! thanks! you did so well on your GRE's! I need to retake mine as i scored low on the verbal portion. How did you study for them if you don't mind me asking?
  6. congrats!!! im starting my second bachelors there this summer. I hope to get into the grad program there after. Ive heard alot of great things about it. Good luck! Do you mind if I ask you your stats? I know its very competitive.
  7. I randomly heard about it on google actually. I was searching for florida schools with speech pathology programs and i saw it. Ive emailed with the director a few times. Its a brand new program. First cohort is Fall 2014. Im going to finish up my bachelors first through USF then apply for the Class of 2015 and see how the first class goes haha I dont want to be the guinea pig really! The director of the program is from UF though. From reading the information about it, it seems that they decided to start a new program due to the shortage of SLP's. If you google it you will find new articles ect of the starting of it. They were awarded there 5 year pre accreditation recently. Not sure how i feel about attending a "pre accredited" school but at this point if its less competitive than i wont have a choice.
  8. Anyone heard about their new program starting Fall 2014. They recently got their pre accreditation. What are your thoughts about attending/applying to a school that hasn't received its accreditation yet?
  9. Im from the area as well. Try applying for jobs being an ABA therapist. You get to work with autistic children and thats alot of experience in the field! You can qualify with your bachelor's as well.
  10. Definitely get that second bachelors. I applied with a 3.0 out of field for this year and didn't get in anywhere. I had decent GRE scores as well and that still didn't help. I also had volunteering experience from a speech clinic and good letters of rec. Nothing helped me. Im a florida resident so i'm doing the second bachelors all online through USF. I know they have a reputable Masters program so Im hoping there second bachelor sis just as good!
  11. I would do the second bachelors. Especially if its only two more courses. It will take you the same amount of time to do the second bachelors at USF vs the post bac courses through UF. I was taking post bac courses at FAU and decided to switch to a second bachelors through USF before i got any further because it would take the same amount of time and money yet I would get a second degree out of it making my application look ten times better coming from in field rather than out of field with just the pre reqs. I havent started yet, but was just accepted to USF second bachelors online! Unless you have a killer gpa in your undergrad thats the only way i would consider doing post bac instead of second bachelors. I chose second bachelors for the reason that my first bachelors gpa was only a 3.1. Hope this helps!
  12. If you can I would get a BS or BA in communication science disorders. I have my BA in psych from FAU and i tried my hardest to incoorperate the pre reqs into my degree and it didnt work out due to course load. I ended up applying to past bac programs bc unless you have a 3.8-4.0 in your out of field degree its difficult to get into grad school and very competitive. MY advice is to get your first degree in Communication science disorders for sure if you can. If you cant, you'll end up doing a post bad program which isnt the worst but just takes up more time when you could have already been in grad school.
  13. Thats great to hear. Are you doing the full time cohort? Also, did you apply to other grad schools besides USF?
  14. Please let me know! I'm nervous about schools still weighing my first degree more than my second degree. I should be hearing back if i got in in a couple weeks here so fingers crossed! Ill look at that video, thanks. If you don't mind me asking how were your courses? Did you work while completing them?
