I have an MFA – I only applied to one PhD program at the same school as my MFA.

Oh boy... I'm in Eugene and do some work for the Art Dept. I will let you know if I hear anything about programs getting cancelled. I know the visual art program extended the deadline for MFAs and BFAs. What is your focus?

    Fall 2021

Hello! Many congratulations everyone! I know maybe not a super popular program but wondering if anyone has applied and heard from University of Oregon for PhD?
  4. I just caught up on about 20 pages worth of posts! My particular mind numbing job is a little intense right now and I took a trip to the west coast to visit UO so I haven't gotten my gradcafe fix recently. Congratulations to everyone getting news! It is really almost over! I believe for me it is coming down to UO vs. Alfred sculpture (thank you milkyways... I was accepted off the waitlist). This was my first time around applying and I wasn't sure what to expect or if this would be the year for me. But I am really pleased to have gotten some good news with good funding... there is still a little wedge of me that wonders what another go around would get me but I don't think I can take it. If anyone has any intimate knowledge or opinions about UO or Alfred sculpture programs I would LOVE to hear them. I have about a week to give Alfred my decision and I think it is going to be very close. Visiting Alfred this week and hoping to know more.
  5. Congratulations! So glad to hear. I did as well : )
  6. I had a very similar experience with Alfred sculpture... I believe I was their first interview on Tuesday. I had prepared but was a little uneasy for some reason and then when I got to the interview my nerves really got to me. My only other interview has been with UO, it was a totally different format (only two professor, over the phone, and pretty quick and informal). I had felt I came across maybe a little too formal and overly-confident with UO, but with Alfred I felt very unclear and lacking confidence. So not to worry... at least once other had a weird Alfred interview. As for other schools I'm assuming I'm out of the running for UCI and UT Austin. The only other dangling out there is VCU sculpture. I've been applying away for other opportunities assuming I might need another year to get what I want. This has been my first time around and I've really learned so much
  7. Was just invited to interview with Alfred on 2/10
  8. Congratulations to everyone with any kind of results! If I bit my nails I'd be biting my nails. To those who have heard from UC Irvine and UT Austin... do you mind me asking how it went if you interviewed? I'm a little bummed not to have heard anything from them but still interested to know any infos for next time
  9. Hi all, been reading for a while... first time posting and first time applying. This message board had been so helpful, thanks and good luck to all. I had mine with UO last week, good luck!
  10. Hi there, I'm also in a similar situation. I have a BFA from MICA in interdisciplinary sculpture. I knew I was going to take some time off of school but didn't expect working full time as a chef to prohibit art making quite as much as it has. More time has gone by than I would have liked since I've had a regular studio practice, but it is still the only thing I'd like to do long-term. I have always wanted to attend VCU for grad school but life has moved me from the East Coast to Colorado. I am considering applying for the University of Colorado at Boulder post-bacc program. Has anyone had experience there as either a post-bacc or MFA? I think this might be a good way to buckle down and give me the push for the full MFA.
