  1. I had very limited audiology related volunteering experience. I don't think the number of hours matter as long as you have the minimum number and your overall application is strong. But its definitely a good way (along with the clinical reference letter) to improve or strengthen your application. We have an audio engineer in my class and the first year class also has someone with that background. It's a good background to have!
  2. Aud.can: You can find audiologists in your area through this website: https://members.caslpo.com/public/register.htm I would contact them directly or walk into their practice and ask if you can volunteer. UWO does not have an interview component (don't know about DAL).
  3. UWO is having a program preview day on October 25th. For more information and to register, here is the link: http://www.uwo.ca/fhs/news_events/pppd.html Hope to see you guys there! And all the best for the upcoming cycle!
  4. UWO is having a program preview day on October 25th. For more information and to register, here is the link: http://www.uwo.ca/fhs/news_events/pppd.html Hope to see you guys there! And all the best for the upcoming cycle!
  5. Westerngalgrad: For the past few years, the entering class average for the UWO Audiology program has been around the mid-80's (my year was ~85%). I would say anything 80%+ is competitive because they do look at things other than your marks (personal statement, references, research, volunteer work etc). Good Luck! Kylie and Chels: Congrats on getting accepted!! See you on Tuesday! Deaf Audie: Congrats on the UBC acceptance! So happy for you!! It's nice to finally see an Audiology forum on this site
  6. Does anyone know if they notify those who got the offer or are waitlisted before the ones who got rejected? Do we assume that we are rejected if we didn't get an e-mail from them?
  7. UWO is having a program preview day on October 26th. For more information and to register, here is the link: http://www.uwo.ca/fhs/news_events/pppd.html Hope to see you guys there! And all the best for the upcoming cycle!
  8. Hey SLPlife, have you checked the Results Search (http://thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php)? There are many applicants who've posted their stats in the results search.
  9. Program: UWO Audiology sub GPA: 3.85 or 89% (cGPA is high too but not sure if that matters) Clinical Audiology hours: only 25! Research experience, hospital volunteering (about 100 hours), Other volunteering (club executive, peer tutor) Good luck to everyone on the waitlist!
  10. I'm IN!!!! Ruined my sleep tho I tried waiting till the morning before checking but somehow woke up at 2 am. After I found out, tried sleeping again but couldn't (probably because I was super excited).
  11. I'm a canadian AUDhopeful too and I was able to find one more canadian applicant on this forum... we've been using the Canadian SLP 2013 thread! I've only applied to UWO tho. Well firstly, I wouldn't give up already. You might be at the top of the waitlist and waitlists for professional usually DO move. As you said there are only three schools in Canada, therefore someone from ontario is likely to apply to the other two as well but their top choice might be the ontario one and they will give up their spot after getting into UWO. So, be patient. Also, why are you saying that you don't have hope of an acceptance from UWO or dalhousie? The Audiology schools in canada do NOT have a preference for applicants from their own province... everyone is treated equally. So, you do have hope and good luck for tomorrow! Do you mind telling us your gpa? I'm just curious about what the competition is like this year.
  12. Excited that the day is finally here but yet soooooooo nervous! Good Luck everyone for tomorrow!
  13. Hey you both, I wanted to point you guys to the 2013 thread >>> And its nice to finally see another AUDhopeful!
  14. Hahaha less than 1 week to go! Does anyone have any idea of what the average gpa's for the ontario schools are like?
  15. I'm pretty sure McGill looks at your cumulative gpa (this is actually true for all professional and graduate programs at McGill).
