Hi everyone- I have been scanning this city guide hoping to gain some insight on the areas surrounding Chicago. I am planning on attending Elmhurst College in August, and I just want to know if anyone has any information on the area. Do most people live in Chicago and commute to Elmhurst? If so, what areas should I look at for renting an apartment? I will have a car, but I would love to be able to take public transportation it is offered and somewhat convenient. Any little bit of information would help!
  2. Guys, this April 15th deadline is killing me right now. I'm waitlisted and they told me they would contact people after the 15th with decisions, but they would not tell me where I was on the waitlist. I have been anxiously checking my e-mail, phone, and mailbox in case something arrives....haven't heard a peep! I think waiting is the worst part of this entire experience!!! Its really weighing me down this week. I hope everyone is starting to hear back from schools and getting some acceptances. Congratulations to all of you who have gotten into a school!
  3. To the person who posted their acceptance for Pacific University yesterday- Did you get accepted off the waitlist? And were you contacted via phone/email/mail?
  4. I applied to Western Carolina last year and I visited with the director this year. They never rejected anyone from last year so there was only a waitlist and an acceptance list. Last year I was told that depending on my rank in the waitlist, it would be anywhere from March until a week before school started to be accepted depending on if people drop or not.
  5. I'm still waiting to hear from Radford and Western Carolina as well. I think Radford notified their top choices this week, and will be contacting everyone else next week. Don't give up hope! No news, could be good news!
  6. Has anyone else heard from Pacific University? It seems kind of slow on the boards today, but I'm still hoping for a phone call!
  7. I don't think so at all!! I just had this vision that they were going to make decisions before the weekend was over and then start calling on Monday. A little too enthusiastic right?? It's driving me nuts!
  8. Does anyone remember if they gave us an exact time frame for when Diana will start calling people for acceptances? I know they said they would have last weeks round of interviews, and then decided, but I can't remember if they said a specific week or not! This wait is killing me!!!
  9. I agree, you can make a lasting impression on the Admissions Committee if you are having your interview later in the day! Good luck with everything! I am preparing for my interview on February 22nd, and I can't help but be nervous about the committee asking me questions based on actual school work. I have been out of school for over 2 years now, and I'm a little rusty. I know it seems a little over the top, but do you think they will ask actual questions based on information you learned in undergraduate, or do you think it'll be basic interview questions (tell me about yourself, what are your weaknesses, etc)?
  10. Hello everyone! Did any of you apply to Pacific University, and if so, have you been asked to interview with them? I just received an e-mail from the admissions director asking me to come out and interview and I was wondering people thought's on it!! Good luck to everyone on this post!
  11. Hi everyone! I am making my first visit to one of my schools tomorrow to meet with the director and some of the staff. Do any of y'all have an idea of some questions I should ask them while I am there? In applying to the school, I've done so much research for it and I feel like a lot of my questions have been answered. Along with that, should I bring anything with me to the visit (resume, personal statement, etc.)? I'm definitely bringing a notebook and pen just to write down important info, but I didn't know if I should bring something of mine to give to the director. Any help with this would be much appreciated!
  12. This is somewhat random, but I will be going to two different schools to attend an Open House. I haven't been to an open house in forever, so I was just wondering what y'all recommend wearing? And do I bring a resume, or any information with me? Also, I remember going up to my undergrad open house with my parents, but is it a good idea to bring them this time too? Obviously I want my parents to be involved in this process with me, even though paying for it, but I don't want the prospective schools to think I need my parents there to make decisions for me.
  13. I am applying to a school with a similar format right now. After asking them, my understanding is that the pre-accreditation stage is just a waiting period. They are basically there, it's just a matter of time before they can say they are completely ASHA certified. Of course, I would check with someone at Molloy just to make sure, but that's how I understood it.
  14. Hi everyone! I need some advice. I am thinking about taking the GRE just one more time before my applications are due. I looked today at the testing centers, and the only Saturday's available are in December (I just started a new job and can't take off yet). If I take it the first week in December, and my first application is due Jan. 15th, do you think that will be enough time to get my scores back?
  15. Hey everyone!!! This is my second year around applying, and I am looking at ALL the options I may have for SLP. How many people have looked into Distance Education programs and what does everyone think about them? I have looked at ECU, JMU, and USC, but I am trying to gain a little more insight into the programs available. Any information would be helpful!!! Thanks!
