  1. I am wondering why people don't really talk about Georgia Tech and UC Berkeley MS program here? It seems like the top school a lot of people apply to for the MS program are : MIT,Princeton,Stanford, Cornell, Columbia How are Georgia Tech and UC Berkeley MS program compared to those mentioned above? (In term of reputation and difficulty of getting in)
  2. I just told them that Columbia is one of my top choice. And I am choosing between Columbia and another place. (which is Cornell but I didn't tell them that)
  3. As for Columbia, I was emailed to pick a date between 30th March- 1st April to call them, but they instead called me on March 31st. I received an offer from Columbia last Friday (2nd). Seems like the process after the phone call is very quick. One thing to note is that I applied for the Engineering Management Systems(EMS) program. Anyone has any idea about this program? I am having a difficult time choosing between Cornell ORIE (Applied Operations Research Concentration) and Columbia EMS program. Any one have any idea which program is better?
  4. Columbia IEOR just told me to call them as well..so I will be talking with them sometime this week Actually I applied for the "M.S. ENGINEERING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS" at Columbia. Any idea about this program? How does it compare to Cornell MEng ORIE program?
  5. It seems like the Stanford Masters program is also extremely competitive this year, from the profile of the people who got rejected and posted on the "Results Search" section. For example: 1) Everyone said don't worry I'd get in.. what am I going to do know? 3.91 800/600 2 internships at MS 2) I have off the wall stats, come from a top 5 inst. how could this have happened? GPA 3.92 GRE 800/720/5.0 with 3 internships Apple, eBay, and Amazon and 2 yrs of research, but no papers published 3) What more could I have done? I gave it my all and that wasn't good enough. Stanford you will miss me, I guarantee it! 3.88 GPA 800/670/4.5, 3 good letter of recs, 2 internships at research labs at UCB 4) Top 15 school - 3.9 800/590/5.0 and I didn't get in, was it really that hard this year? I guess I'll apply again next year... worked so hard these 4 years to get into Stanford =( 5) I can't believe I didn't get in ='( Stanford was my dream school.. I had 1 journal entry and 3 top notch recs plus 2 internships at MS and Facebook I knew that Stanford CS Masters program is hard, but never thought that it is this hard. Can the people who got in this year share their profile?
  6. I have just been rejected. For those who got rejected, I am wondering whether did you guys get this same phrase in the email?? "The Admissions Committee wanted me to urge you to consider submitting an application next year. With some additional work (or research) experience, we believe that your application would be significantly more competitive. "
  7. My friend emailed them to ask about this. They said that they are "trying" to get the result out by the end of this week.
  8. Last weekday of February.. still no result coming?
  9. I also got rejected by Princeton ORFE just now.
  10. By the way, anyone here got into MIT Computation for Design and Optimization program? I got rejected from this program, so I am wondering how good you have to be to get in. (They told me that they accepted ~10 students this year)
  11. I just got into Cornel ORIE Meng as well (knew the result 2 days ago)... do you know how difficult the admission is comparing to other OR masters program from other school? For those with low GRE verbal score, don't lose hope. Mine is really low (~400) and I got in .. I think the reason is because the other parts of my application are very strong. (1 publication in top tier Computer Science conference, 4 papers submitted now waiting for result, numerous leadership experience, recommendation letters from world renown professors, excellent GPA from top 5 US engineering university) I really regret that I didn't apply to Stanford MS&E because at first I was scared of their high average verbal score.
  12. Anyone here heard back from them yet? I saw 1 acceptance in the "Results Search".
  13. I also applied for TPP! I really want to get into this program. I think we will be knowing the result very soon! I visited them last November, the people there told me that eventually, everyone will get funded through RA/TA position. But this might not be immediate.
  14. Anyone got into MIT CDO? I didn't get in. I guess I didn't do enough research in this area, even though I thought I am a very strong applicant. I visited them last November, they told me that they are taking around 10 students this year. Those of you who got in, do you mind sharing your profile? I am wondering how good you have to be to get in!
