  1. That's awesome! I don't think there is but we should definitely make one!
  2. I'll be attending UT Dallas this summer! I'm starting my leveling classes in May. There are so many reasons I chose Dallas, including: 1) They have an incredibly strong program that allows students to have experiences in a wide variety clinical settings. 2) Dr. Stillman is probably the most warm, helpful person I talked to throughout this entire process. 3) I received a scholarship for in-state tuition, which makes the overall cost so much less than I anticipated. 4) I am out-of-field but can still receive my degree after two full years, while I thought it would take at least 2.5 and probably 3. 5) My boyfriend can move with me to Dallas and transfer to the same school (different location) for his culinary program there. 6) I think I will LOVE the city of Dallas and being in Texas! SO EXCITED! Two months until I move! And I'm going in a month to do some apartment hunting with my mom
  3. Seriously love reading about everyone! This was a great idea. Nobody else at my school is going into SLP so it's great to "meet" some people that are! My name is Julie, I'm 21 years old and a senior at Duke University. I'm out-of-field, with a major in Linguistics and minors in Spanish and Education. I'm also part of our teacher licensure program, so this semester I have been student teaching a 4th and 5th grade class. I absolutely love the class and the kids, but I also can't wait to start my graduate studies and learn more about SLP. I have babysat since high school and have worked for families with children with Autism and Cerebral Palsy, so my experience with them definitely sparked my interest in this field. I've been a nanny for the same family since I came back from studying abroad in Madrid last semester and I love it - my day are super busy right now between teaching from 8-4 and then working until 7, but it's the kind of busy that is super fulfilling. When I'm not working, I'm spending time with friends - I'm a member of a sorority, ZTA, and have loved the experience throughout college. I also spend time with my boyfriend, who will be moving to Dallas with me when I begin at UT Dallas in May! He is in culinary school at The Art Institute and earning his bahelor's in culinary management, so he is able to transfer from the school here to the same program in Dallas! We are both really excited about this step in our lives/our relationship and can't wait to meet new people! Other interests include reading, crafting, movie watching and amusement parks
  4. Good luck! Dr. Stillman is super personable, so don't be nervous to reach out to him if you can't wait any longer Also, they definitely look at the applicant as a whole, rather than just numbers, if that helps with your nerves a bit!
  5. Hi slpash! Keep me posted if you do attend - I was not accepted to Vanderbilt, my other top choice, so I just officially accepted my admission to UT Dallas!
  6. Thanks Quinn! I'm so excited to move there and I am sending positive thoughts your way!! Good luck and keep me posted
  7. Yeah I don't think I have that yet haha. Congrats
  8. I'm guessing UVA is sending out in waves as well - my status is still just "submitted" on the website. This is just through logging into the same way we applied, correct? I won't end up there but I'm still curious if I got in
  9. My cousin went to SUNY Plattsburgh! She didn't want to go there originally but turned out loving it and has been happily working as a SLP for 13 years since!
  10. I'm Julie! My GRE was pretty normal I think - they cared a lot more about my Letters of Recommendation and Statement of Purpose I think! Good luck and keep me posted!
  11. Is anyone else planning on (hoping to) begin their graduate program at UT Dallas this Summer coming from out-of-field? The program starts so soon after my graduation (it's on May 11 and then summer classes start May 27) but I'm hoping there will be other people doing the same thing that I can meet when I move there!
  12. Congrats to both of you that got into U of I!!
  13. Dr. Stillman emailed me, and since I'm from out-of-field told me I can start during summer session and have in-state tuition (I'm from NC) for my duration at UT Dallas if I attend. He told me there's no pressure to decide right away though which is really nice.
  14. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! I'm so excited to find out who will be going where and talk to people I may be at school with!
