  1. Hi Molloy is actually still interviewing, I have my interview with them on Monday. Any advice? What kinds of questions did she ask? Thank you!!
  2. Ahh yikes that's crazy! Just curious where did you hear that?
  3. Got into Hofstra! What do people know about their program/reputation?
  4. For all those rejected from TC, I emailed the assistant director of admission asking for feedback on my application and received this response: "I am writing in response to your request for information regarding the decision on your application to the Speech and Language Pathology program. While it is our policy not to discuss the specifics of an application decision, I hope that the following general information will be helpful to you. Your application was given full consideration along with all other applications received for this program by the members of the admission committee who consider applicants for this degree. With respect to the admission process for this particular program, the committee adopts a holistic approach in reviewing each applicant’s materials. Among a range of items, the admission committee considers previous academic records, the statement of purpose, references, and other records of personal and professional accomplishment. While I know that the outcome is not what you had hoped for, please know that the admission committee gave careful consideration to your application and was not able to offer admission to the program at this time. As you most likely know, the CSD program at TC is extremely competitive. This year the admission rate was approximately 14%. You are welcome to submit a new application for Fall 2016. The application will be available in September." Happy I've been accepted elsewhere and best of luck to all!
  5. I still haven't heard from Kean, I keep telling myself no news is good news....?
  6. Hi no I did not! I will be interviewing there as well at the end of the month.
  7. For people still waiting to hear from Seton Hall I emailed the director of grad admissions and he said, "Hi, happy to help. We are continually making decisions and your application is under review by our admission committee. I expect we will let you know by April 15. I’m sorry I cannot give you a more specific timeline, but it’s still very early into our cycle. Please let me know if I can answer anything else." I also asked the grad admissions counselor at Kean and he said, "Thank you for your email. The department has begun submitting decisions to me so you will be hearing something in the mail shortly." I know there's nothing I can do but wait and asking won't make a difference haha but I would just love to hear back from either of these schools! Good luck to all
  8. Same, I also live pretty close and nada ...feeling discouraged but remaining hopeful until I hear something! Anyone know if there will be another round of acceptances?
  9. I feel your pain too! When someone posted about Kent in the results I thought it said Kean and freaked out. I also ignored the 3-5 week thing in the email though just based on how late they informed last year! So far I've been accepted to Adelphi and will be interviewing at Molloy.
  10. Congrats! I was accepted there as well. I would also assume it's for wherever you selected.
  11. Hello! Could anyone who's interviewed with Molloy College please tell me what the interview was like? Thanks!
  12. Hi Kate, As the poster above me said, Kean is great because you don't have to complete the entire pre-professional program; you just take what you want. However, this could get tricky because if money is a concern it would be wise to only take the pre-reqs you need for wherever you do end up applying. So it might involve a bit of research. Also, their pre-professional program can be done entirely online (but not all online classes are offered all semesters). You can also apply to Kean with 0 pre-reqs and just take 3 years to get your Masters. It is possible to work full-time and do a full-time post bac, especially if it's an online program. I know people that have done it and you'd have to work hard but it's not impossible. For shadowing, I know Seton Hall requires at least 25 hours. If you don't have time to physically shadow an SLP they'll accept observation hours from www.masterclinician.org as long as a certified SLP is signing off on your observations. Good luck!
  13. Hello everyone! I was just wondering what everyone was doing regarding thanking your professors/supervisors for providing you with letters of recommendation for grad schools? A simple card and/or small gift? Any suggestions? Also, when is the best time to give it to them? Right after they've submitted or after you've been (hopefully!) accepted? I had my first prof submit all my letters today even though my first application isn't due until January.
  14. Hey! I would suggest following the hashtag: #moveSLP on Twitter, updates/opportunities are updated regularly
  15. Hey all! Did anyone else in here apply for the MSLP at ASHA this year? I know we're supposed to be notified if we've got accepted or not in September, but I am hoping it is sooner rather than later...
