  1. I just wanted to say 'Thank You' for being a considerate person in this cut-throat, selfish world.
  2. Thanks! I think I would ask them for an extension.
  3. Oxford! So cool! Congratulations, Alterman! Makes me shudder to think I only applied to three universities. Didn't have the resources to apply to more and didn't apply to any of the 'prestige' programs but only three still feels like madness!
  4. Hmm..but one of my programs is asking me to make a decision by the end of March. Feeling under pressure.
  5. I'm glad I joined Gradcafe! It has been and continues to be a great experience. At times the other applicants' overwhelmingly good grades/GRE/publications/research experiences scared me out of my wits! But at times the people around here soothed me with their comforting words. Most importantly, Gradcafe helped me keep my chin up, even when the people around me (and sometimes in my own head I, myself) told me otherwise.
  6. Got funding! Soon it would be decision time for me. :)

  7. Thanks, strudelle! Waiting for news on funding is totally nerve wrecking! Especially with everyone around me asking questions all the time. Am I in? If yes then when and where am I going? What does it mean I can't say anything until April? If I'm in I'm in, right? So hard to make everyone understand!
  8. When I contacted them they told me there may be some delay with out of country mail. That's why I didn't get mine. If I hadn't contacted them I would've been hanging on for weeks to come. I'm glad that's over with!
  9. Contacted Washington University in St. Louis and received an email of rejection. Nearly 120 applicants to the Department of Anthropology, all extremely promising candidates cannot be admitted; etc, etc. Ah well! For a newbie, who before June 2013 didn't even think of applying, getting two acceptances is pretty good, if I do say so myself.
  10. WUSTL also rejected me, even though we're not from the same program.
  11. Well, that's the last of'em! Contacted the university and received an email of rejection. Nearly 120 applicants to the Department of Anthropology, all extremely promising candidates cannot be admitted; etc, etc. Ah well! For a newbie, who before June 2013 didn't even think of applying, getting two acceptances out of three is not too shabby, if I do say so myself. Now, if only fundings would work out, I would have absolutely nothing to complain about!

123hardasABC, thanks! With less than zero support from those who are around me, almost zero expectations and know-how about the application process (being an international applicant doesn't help either), being positive and moving on is really the only choice I have if I want to survive. :)

PhDerp, thanks! I love The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy! Which makes my user name oh so apt! :)

  13. Good luck to both of us! Thanks, pears!
