  1. Hello Everyone, Just looking for some advice on PhD's in political science for non academic careers. I am torn if I should accept my PhD offer because Iv'e gotten a lot of feedback from some of my professors that academic jobs are diminishing (less tenure positions, too many PhD applicants). That a pursuing a PhD right now in political science may not be the best option as it is really not like it used to be. I was wondering everyone's opinion on this pursuing a PhD? Is everyone interested in academic careers?

  3. Hello Everyone! Just wanted to get some feedback on what information anyone has heard about the Queens PhD program in Political Science? How well connected are the professors etc? Just curious what people thought about having a Canadian PhD pursuing jobs (academia / other) in the USA with a PhD from Queens? I have read online that if you don't have a degree from U of T, McGill UBC than they think your school is not great. Thoughts on this?
  4. haha yeah, It's a big decision four years is a long time, if were even on time! Good luck I hope you hear back soon!
  5. Thanks for the input Blake! Only Western. Not sure if I'm going to accept though as I'm getting told by various professors the risks in pursuing a PhD in Political Science Now. How about you what's your first choice?
  6. hey everyone! I just got accepted into the PhD program at Queen's University for Political Science. Any advice on this program?
  7. It's not a class for my major just an elective -__- should have never taken it
  8. Hey Everyone in a sticky situation. Currently in my final year have already gotten acceptances and have accepted to Waterloo MA in political science. I need to maintain an 80 for funding. I am currently not doing great in one of my classes (72) going into the final. I am thinking of LWD (late withdrawal) will they revoke my acceptance if I choose to do this?
  9. o yes that that may be problematic, I would assume it be a bonus as if your applying to a PhD they can see you work, (maybe ask your professors) I have a general question for anyone, I'm new to this. If your interested in doing a PhD after a masters, whats more important, the school you attend or the supervisor you work under if you choose to do a thesis based masters?. I want to do a PhD in the USA, but if I don't attend a big name school such as Toronto or McGIll is this more difficult to get accepted?
  10. Hey Everyone I got my McMaster acceptance for MA in international relations, anyone heard much about the program? pro/cons?
