  1. So many things to consider.. Anyway, I also think GradPad is the best option, at least for a while, but finding a guarantor is not easy.. My idea here is talking with some people from my future lab first, maybe I can find something with their help, or not, I don't know..
  2. I guess I will arrive one or two weeks before October 4th and try to find something then..
  3. I guess private housing is cheaper but after years sharing flats I would like to live quietly in my own studio. However, grad housing (aka GradPad) is really expensive and that rule of paying the whole thing in advance is a huge drawback.
  4. If you decide to go to Geneva, feel free to PM me
  5. I wouldn't worry about French in Geneva. It is pretty much an international city and you can definitely survive there knowing just a few basic stuf (of course it would be better learning French and there a lot of free/cheap French classes there). I do not know that much about your field, but there are loads of opportunities in Geneva for people like you (most in English). UN, ILO, WHO, zillions of NGO's..
  6. Guys, have you already sorted out accommodation?
  7. Hey guys, So, I am starting my PhD at Imperial College (Deparment of Chemistry) on October and I was wondering how much money you can earn as a TA and how these things work there or in the UK in general (I am not from the UK, so don't know much about it). Many thanks!
  8. organic.. have you been accepted into UNC as well?
  9. I have just got accepted at UNC (official acceptance to follow).
  10. I have received this note earlier today. Apparently, they don't accept TOEIC, so the only remaining option is IELTS.

    New York, NY

I am in a similar position. I've been accepted to both NYU (full funding + external funding of $1700) and Imperial College London (only external funding of £1700). I should be probably just fine in NYC, but I am worried about London, mainly because I would prefer go to Imperial under normal conditions but these financial matters are killing me.
  12. I've got an offer from Imperial on the 17th of January and I've applied in early November.
