  1. Good luck guys! Some PIs let people know late, but in general, there should be an open house at the end of next month, so they can't wait too long. As to how many people are accepted - if I remember correctly, 40 something students were accepted out of ~550 last year.
  2. 2 days remaining until the open house, and according to the stats page - no decisions have been made yet. Is it possible that they are planning to hold a visit day with no students, or can we assume that decisions have already been made for the most part, but people didn't report?
  3. Thanks for the information! Sorry to hear about your colleague.. It is quite possible that some rejection decisions have been made so far. It's very normal for an admissions committee to grossly reduce the pool of applicants first, and then continue with that process until they are left with a short list of 'finalists'. Unfortunately, it's difficult to say where each of us stand at this point, as no decision were given officially. Also, note that the acceptance that was just posted is in fact from Feb. 14, so it isn't really new information.
  4. Looks like there won't be any decisions made this week. Next week is going to be long..
  5. Although I did not apply to this program specifically, I too, obsessively check my e-mail, my application page (redundant), my Linkedin, academia, mail, phone, etc. Logic tells me this is utterly futile, and yet - the compulsive behavior remains.
  6. There's also a Master's program in ESD, although I'm not sure if it's treated any differently than its PhD counterpart. Is the open day on Mar. 14? Is it TPP only or ESD in general? Also, congrats and good luck!
  7. Thanks for the information! Indeed, it would appear that the visit weekend will take place on the 14th, so I imagine decisions will be out by then. It's true that there's very little historical information about ESD, but it does seem that they tend to announce on the first week of March. Good luck with your application!
  8. Hi, Anyone else applied to this program and is waiting for the results? So far it doesn't seem like (m)any results are out. Does anyone know more?
  9. As far as I know, the PIs were expected to select potential applicants last week (unless you know the advisor, there's probably going to be an interview first). I imagine people will start getting news very soon. Some have even began to receive them today. Note: I'm currently at the Media Lab.
  10. Hi, Most programs in MIT clearly state that only international applicants are required to take the IELTS/TOEFL. However, there's some discrepancy when it comes to ESD admission: 1. The application itself states: IELTS should be taken by international applicants. 2. The FAQ and the ESD website says: IELTS scores, for non-native speakers of English. I'm kind of hesitant to bring it up before the department's admissions, as it would be very difficult to have the test in time for admission (still need to take the GRE). However, I wouldn't want my application to be rejected over a technicality. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, D
