Thanks. No funding, with small chance of some funds "freeing up" after first semester. Seems irresponsible for schools to even give people this option.

Finally accepted to my dream program today... with no funding. This is a rejection, right?

Have you seen the rejection posted today? Holding my breath. At this point I think I will be lucky if I get an offer for the Masters program...

I applied for computational, so that's why I'm stressin. My guess is they invite all of their first-choice people, wait to get yays or nays, and then start sending out more acceptances in March.

Anyone else waiting on Georgetown? To the person(s) invited to the open house, would you mind sharing your specialization?

I'm a little late to this thread, but it's so nice to see that others have had to choose between these two fields. I chose to get my MA in Art History and have since come to realize that Linguistics is where my heart lies. My next challenge will be articulating the connection between the disciplines to ad coms if/when I go back to school with Linguistics. Good luck to you in the application process.

Still waiting on Maryland even though I'd been told repeatedly to expect a decision by early this week. Does anyone have an explanation? Is this normal? As much as I love the program, I'm getting really frustrated.

I am - for the MA. Based on the results page, I don't think they've announced any MA decisions except for Conservation.

Masters, actually. Someone mentioned that the adcom met last week. Guess we'll know soon enough.

I can't stop refreshing it either. Just waiting to see that magic word "Texas."

Does anyone know what the general rule is for deferring enrollment by a year in these graduate programs? Does it just depend on the school? The department? I'm specifically wondering about Texas and NYU. I haven't been able to find out on their Web sites and I'd rather not contact them about it before I hear back about my applications...
