got mine too. it's the first official word on any of my apps. it almost feels good, the waiting is more difficult than the judgement itself. i can uncross a pair of fingers.

Are other socio-cultural folks who've applied to UC Berkeley and haven't heard either way also thinking no news is bad news?

If the person who got the stanford interview is out there somewhere, I'd like to know what field you applied to. ...though why should i really? it's all quite futile in the end. *sigh*

Hello, I graduated a couple years ago and have been in a sort of informal post-bac internship under a professor friend of mine. It involved a fieldwork based research project, some of which was collaborative and some of which I worked independently. I'm writing a paper from my independent work and I was wondering if any of you good people had suggestions for a journal that I might hope to submit to. I think the paper is probably on par with a strong undergrad honors thesis or the start to a graduate school project. Would you suggest looking for a theme specific journal, or at this level am I more likely to find just general anthro/cultural studies journals? I can go more into it if it would help with suggestions, but some key words are: visual media, violence, ethics, self formation, training, police. Any ideas in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and congrats to everyone who put apps in this season

monfemme: No I have not heard from them. My application page says incomplete as well, but as you said, the format of their app means that it is submitted. I think we'll be okay. Also, if you are going for cultural programs, from your signature it seems that we are applying to many of the same schools. best luck to you.

thanks yeah I was considering sending a msg to my poi but hated to bother them over the break, though considering all of this again, I think it'll really all be fine, I appreciate your research. The upload page says all items (research proposal incl.) are mandatory unless otherwise noted. A bit ambiguous, but I feel that that the anthro admissions page is pretty clear on what is required. I did see that other page you posted, which is a little disconcerting that they didn't change that due date and have slightly different wording on their requirements.

Hello, Is anyone else applying to McGill's phd program? Am just now uploading my docs and see that on the upload page it lists, along with the CV, SoP, and Sample of Written Work, a "Research Proposal". My proposal is contained in my SoP which I was writing per the requirements on the the Mcgill anthro admissions page ( http://www.mcgill.ca/anthropology/graduate/admissions ), which doesn't mention a research proposal separate from a personal statement. I was going off that page and now I'm a little thrown off, worried about not having all the required docs! Has anyone asked about this?, the office is closed between now at the due date. Thanks.
