What forum posted this? And when did they post it? Does "some notifications have already hone out" refer to the first round decisions that went out in Feb? Last year final round decisions went out 4/15 by email, and I believe that acceptances, rejections, and alternates all heard at the same time. I received an email notification in early Feb requesting transcripts (which indicates final round status), but I have not heard anything since then.
  2. Just received the first round notification (11:37 am MST). The email says it will be 3-4 months for the second round decisions, but based on past years we should hear around mid-April hopefully!

Hi all, I also got informal news today (an email from Deb Winslow) that my proposal is recommended for funding in cultural anthropology. I was on the second review panel (review date October 20th). Wishing everyone else the best!
  5. You are absolutely right, and it absolutely is helpful!! Thank you, and best of luck for WG. P.S. Your panel review date is where is says, Review Information, and "External Peer Review began on" -- if you click on the proposal number on your Proposal Status page of Fast Lane it should take you to the page with that information.
  6. I am sorry to hear this. That was a quick turn around for the January round. Do you mind letting people on this forum know what your review panel date was? I just checked and mine is still pending (my review panel date was 4/3).

This is from another message board: "Transcript request received 5th Feb. It seems like they come in over a period of time. Anyone knows how large the remaining pool is for those whose transcripts were requested? My understanding of the process, which is based on following message boards over the years and some conversations with professors who have served as SSRC reviewers, is that the pool is cut to around 200 at the "transcript request" stage. So the first cut is quite a significant one (they have received 1,100-1,200 apps in recent years) when compared to other agencies (Wenner-Gren, for instance, cuts about 50 percent in their first round.) The national panel meets in April to go over the remaining 200 or so apps that received transcript requests and they select the 75-80 winners. The reviewer comments are generally useful and encouraging, but unless you crack that top 15-20 percent, you won't be getting them."
  8. I am a DPDF fellow from last year (2013). Just procrastinating while I scope the other message boards for updates on dissertation funding It is not a box you check on the application--you just have to send an email to the DPDF staff and they are happy to email you your reviews.
