  1. What about Pitt media and culture in particular are you looking to learn more about? (first year pitt phd student here)
  2. Someone turned down their Pitt offer after the deadline and I just received my own offer that I will be accepting! See anyone else who accepted at Pitt this fall
  3. Found out I was at the very top of the waitlist for Pitt after the last round of acceptances. :/ My final plans look like I won't be attending PhD school this year, however, I will still be moving to the Pittsburgh area and working for a year and I'll reapply next year. Hopefully with a few changes to my application I can move myself up a bit higher! Congrats and good luck to everyone on your final destinations. @Meanyus- Congrats on the wedding! There are, of course, many great beaches in North Carolina, but I personally love the Outer Banks the most. Idk if you've looked into it at all, but I live up in Corolla, so could give you a lot of details on that area, but depending on what you are looking for, I know a lot about the rest of the Outer Banks as well. Just send me a private message if you want and I'd be happy to answer some questions if you have any.
  4. Does anyone know if you can still receive offers on the 15th or later?
  5. Thanks for letting me know Meanyus, I've been like a crazy person checking my email the last few days, it's making concentrating on my thesis impossible! Fingers crossed for this recent opening! You're going to be so close to the Outer Banks at NC State (I've lived in OBX the past few summers, although I'm actually closer to Fort Collins now, I'm in Wyoming), You have to find a beach weekend there at some point! And Rhetgirl, you'll love Austin, it's a very cool city
  6. Congrats! I received an email from them recently but am still waiting for a space to open up, so I'm really hoping to hear that I'll be joining you in the next few days!
  7. I've seen a couple pitt acceptances lately, I was just wondering if those of you who received them plan on accepting or not

It looks like the fairfield apartments and townhouses are largely a part of a subsidized housing project, with about 2/3rds of renters looking like they are subsidizing. From what I can tell, despite how nice it looks, its really more a part of East Liberty than Shadyside. I also came across those Neville apts through walnut capital- I sent them an email inquiring more information so I'm hoping to hear back soon! Finding a 2 br apt with a washer and dryer in the unit (as opposed to coin laundry in the building) in shadyside or squirrel hill through a decent rental company is looking next to impossible. I'm beginning to think I might end up with coin laundry for the first year until I can go check out some of the rowhouses or townhomes that have washer dryer hookups in person for year 2.

Thanks PowderRiver- That's very helpful. From your post and another person I've talked to, it seems like you're right, that it is located on the edge of shadyside and east liberty, in a sort of transitional location. From what I can tell, everything to the west of it looks great- the target, lots of shopping, bars, delicious restaurants, bus transportation. I'd love to move into one of the older, renovated rowhouses eventually, I just won't be able to see anywhere in person until after I move to pitt, so am hoping to find a predictably stable and well located place for our first year. For anyone else still struggling, I plan on calling Fairfield tomorrow with a few more questions, I'll let you all know what I hear!

Hey everyone! My SO and I will be moving to pitt for his PhD at pitt hopefully in august. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about fairfield apartments? So far they look like the best option ive found for affordable ($1,000 for a 2 br townhome), great location (looks like its on the edge of shadyside?), allows dogs, washer dryer in unit... etc http://www.fairfieldapartmentsatlibertypark.com/index.aspx
  11. I have opted to turn down GSU and he will be accepting at Pitt. I'm excited that Pitt is closer to my family which is what I really want and I'm looking forward to working for a while. I'm still in the group of people who haven't been accepted or rejected from Pitt, so who knows, maybe I'll still end up there at some point! Congrats to everyone's acceptances, and those who didn't get where you wanted, I hope this next year works out!
  12. My SO just received a call last night with an offer of acceptance to Pitt! He had been previously notified that he was waitlisted.
  13. My SO was emailed that he is now #1 on their wait list (from previous 3rd) and has good reason to anticipate an offer in the next few weeks (hopefully!). I have still heard nothing on my status though, just anticipating my rejection at this point.
  14. I think this question could be appropriate in this thread... What happens if you have an offer (or offers), which expect their decision by april 15th, but you have other wait-listed schools that you wouldn't hear from until after april 15th? If you want a shot at those wait-listed schools do you have to just turn down your other offers and keep your fingers crossed, or accept, and then pay some kind of fee if you get in off a wait-list and decide to drop your april 15th acceptance?
  15. Not at all, you are certainly in the right place. For those who are applying for uga comm studies, I received this email back after I asked the status of my admission: We have extended an initial round of offers for some individuals to join the PhD or MA graduate program. However, we have a “rolling admissions” process and will likely be making additional offers in April.
