  1. I didnt get it either But I got nsf so it's ok N NDSEG Program Team at ASEE to me 5 minutes agoDetails Dear 2015 NDSEG Applicant, Thank you for your interest in the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship Program. The selection process was very thorough and your application was reviewed by many experts in your discipline. Unfortunately, your application was not selected for an award during the 2015 application evaluation process. NDSEG is very competitive and there were many more qualified applicants than could be funded. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide any feedback on your application, but please feel free to contact us if you have any other questions. We wish you well in your academic endeavors and thank you again for your interest in the NDSEG Fellowship Program. Sincerely, The NDSEG Program Team at ASEE
  2. I just wanted to add what one of my reviewers said about my GPA that seemed really unnecessary. I went to a large public state school and had a 4.0 in undergrad with two separate science bachelors degrees and a humanities minor and he commented that "While the PI's 4.0 gpa is impressive, it is more than likely due to grade inflation". Like what... That was so unnecessary. Come at me bro.
  3. I stand corrected. But "may" is still a key word
  4. At Dubblebubble, there are other parameters they score you on besides those given scores. Also, they wont give a crap
  5. Holy crap holy crap holy crap!!!! I GOT IT!!! Good thing I checked on here because the email went to my spam folder. Sorry to the guys who got good scores but no award. Happened to me last year. Also, $34,000!! Whoever predicted an increase was correct! Only one in my program to get it muahahahah. I took the "bold important lines" approach and my reviewers seemed to have a better time processing everything (or they were just better reviewers) IM: VG, E, E BI: E, E, E
  6. So I have a hypothetical for everyone. I am a first year PhD student. Say I am awarded a fellowship. How would it be viewed if I applied to transfer to another institution? Obviously my current institution would be pissed, but they're awful and I wouldn't care about that. Would the institution I'm applying to be happy to accept a transfer GRFP scholar no questions asked? Do you think they'd let me skip the normal application process and enroll for the Fall?

    St. Louis, MO

Hi everyone, Just accepted my offer to go to WashU for their Energy, Environment and Chemical Engineering Program for a PhD. Anybody else plan on joining me out in St. Louis? Anybody have suggestions on where to live?
  8. Just got the email. Not selected for Australia
  9. This is why I am upset. I have several first author papers published, tons of conference presentations and I'm receiving two separate bachelor degrees (in 4 years) with a 4.0 and didnt get an award. I am at least thankful though for the members of this board who have made suggestions about bolding important aspects of the proposal, as mine would have benefited from that.
  10. I'm getting concerned about Australia. I emailed 3 different committee members and none have replied (it's been like a week). I hope nothing happened to their funding. Their website says we should have found out in March and in past years it was around March 26th.
  11. Come on Australia!!! I'm hoping today is the day. Theyre officially a week behind the last couple of years.
  12. What exactly is there to be grateful for in these reviews that will help me in the future? All it says is that I am a great applicant that was recommended by two of my reviewers to receive a fellowship but didnt get it. I feel robbed because I go to a "easy" state school, versus the other students in my category who are all from ivy's/california schools. 1) Intellectual Merit Criterion Overall Assessment of Intellectual Merit Excellent Explanation to Applicant The applicant presents excellent academic credentials and strong evidence of a history of research, including puboications in ungergraduate fora. 13. I wish I knew then what I knew now. The program I am going to would be classified at bioengineering (55 awards). I applied as genetics (29 awards). Such a better chance by just changing one stupid thing. I wish I had know how much of a difference category made.
  14. I'm just so angry I cannot sleep. I wish I had known then what I know now about what category I wanted to be judged in. I'm even more upset that I got excellents in the broader impact, and a mix of very goods and excellents in intellectual merit. I literally have every undergrad national fellowship for my field, 4.0 GPA, 4 years of research and outreach and summer activities. There were like 6 full awards offered to people at my university and I know that my application was better than theirs. Just so infuriating. I have been working towards this every moment of my undergrad career. Edit: I was just looking over my reviews and both of my VG/E said I was fellowship potential (one even stated Level 1 applicant) and my E/E of course said he recommended for fellowship. I LITERALLY DO NOT GET IT
