  1. How much, after I submitted my applicaiton and other materials, I wanted a career in acadamia. The wait, the uncertainty, the ambiguity, became even more real when the opportunity to not continue toward a doctoral degree became a true option. I would never ever wish the waiting process on anyone, even my worst enemy. Yet, the acceptance that later came with funding was the greatest news I have received in my life up until this point. (And trust me, there have been some great moments in my life.)
  2. I was working on my thesis, making some final editing touches. Checked my email and there it was! I kept repeating, "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh..." Even now, it still seems unreal!
  3. That makes so much more sense. Thanks for the advice! I more or less was also interested in knowing if this is the norm, to not hear anything either way, and I'm glad to know there are others out there who are able to make sense of it all:) Thanks!
  4. So are you suggesting I contact the schools and ask or simply wait? I'm a little confused as to your response, maybe more so the tone. Also, what possible scenarios are you conjuring? I'd like to know haha. At this point, I'm feeling pretty good about everything. just trying to receive insight.
  5. Hi Duna, I actually have been accepted somewhere else. These two schools were high on my list but after some initial consideration, I have chosen somewhere else. I was more or less just wondering what the thoughts are out there. I guess I find it odd that I haven't heard anything and perhaps that is indicative of their programs?
  6. So...I'm just curious. I haven't heard from two schools regarding anything. I have no idea if I am wait listed or flat out rejected. Any advice on what I should do at this point?
  7. Hellofandom, thank you so much! That makes a ton of sense. Hope everything is going well for you! I see you were accepted at Kentucky! I love that department and almost applied but did not.
  8. Hi everyone, I need some guidance here because this is my first time applying to doctoral programs. I have recently received an offer and have not heard from some others schools about acceptance or an offer. I plan on waiting a few more weeks; however, I wanted to know what appropriate protocol is in asking others schools about my application given I have an offer elsewhere. Mainly, when you email the other schools, do you ever tell them which school has given you the offer? Or do you remain as generic as possible and state something along these lines, "I have been given offers elsewhere..." I'm just not sure if you say the school that offered or you remain quiet about the actual school. Also, when the others school respond, would they ask what schools have made you offers and how much they have offered? I'm just so confused! Thanks so much for the advice!
  9. Are there any Interpersonal and Family Comm'ers out there? Would like to know how things are going for all of you...
  10. Well everyone, it's Sunday night, and I just want to let you all know that this week is a new week, and I am thrilled! (This could be that I am ecstatic after binge watching House of Cards all weekend) but anyway, I'm hopeful! I hope the best for all of you!
