  1. Not to be tardy in a response, but nothing yet here.
  2. We have a noon - 3 class on September 8th according to the summer booklet they sent me!
  3. Congrats, and welcome to the fold! I applied to grad house, because it's not that expensive compared to most downtown Toronto housing, and its likely a lot easier than some other buildings, most of which have a lot of horror stories about poor management, pests, or robberies. Also, it's not a guarantee, just another option. So, I figured it couldn't hurt to apply! That said, I'm not banking on Grad house, merely exploring all options! That said, if anyone's who has accepted the program is looking for a room mate somewhere in Toronto for next year, PM me, perhaps we could chat and see if it's something we're both interested in, or maybe try and get a group of us together if possible!
  4. I finally made a choice and confirmed Munk. I will be seeing most of you in September is sounds like!
  5. Yeah that was what I as thinking as well, but the unknown has me a little worried.
  6. So, what is everyone who has accepted thinking for their living situation next year? I'm debating schools still, but seriously concerned about what to do living wise if I come to Toronto
  7. I asked Megan, she said official packages were taking longer to print and we should expect them around early April.
  8. I believe CGSM scholars will hear exactly on the first? But I could be wrong. My friend heard about his SSHRC on the first last year to Western.
  9. Not likely. It takes time for the schools to update everything online. The process isn't always standard. I received unofficial acceptances this year far earlier than some of my peers, but they received their funding information before I did. It's just a fluke of the system because there is so much that admissions need to do during this time of year.
  10. I did, if you email them, programs are usually lenient and willing to extend the deadline for you to have all of your funding information secured.
  11. To say that the federal government hired no one is an exaggeration in my mind I know a number of people who've been hired into DFTAD, or as political aides. And many of the jobs listed have nothing to do with the federal or provincial government. I have to agree that overall school rankings could matter though. I just don't know how much of a difference the Toronto name will make compared to NPSIA's name when it comes to international work, unless you're looking into academia. I could be wrong, but I don't put much substance behind employers caring about your school rank unless you're going into academia. Perhaps I'm wrong though. I'm still on the fence, waiting for funding decisions from Toronto and SSHRC before I decide where I'll end up, so this is providing a good counter measure to my predisposition to less debt at NPSIA. This is so nice to hear. As a Canadian, we can't wait for you to get here!
  12. I got an email offer. It took a fair while for them to update carleton central, but that is where all of the information appeared and was updated for me!
  13. I finally received my funding offer! Is anyone else in International Economic Policy cluster?
  14. I also wouldn't be surprised. The amount of money they've infused into the Toronto program already has a lot of students and IR professors in Canada as rating it over GSPIA in Ottawa, and nearly on par with NPSIA. I think Munk's program will especially shine because of the emphasis on the private sector. I have friends currently at Munk that love it for this reason. Currently, right now, however it's difficult to justify the 20,000 tuition on top of expensive living when NPSIA is offering nearly full funding, plus the gravitas of an established program. Additionally, a lot of Munk is a very "get out and get em" attitude. Internships are coordinated more by individual students than the program, and can be unpaid because of it. My friend said nearly half of her class ended up in unpaid internships because they were unprepared going into the program. While some of the others have found exceptionally lucrative internships, that they've been able to stay at part time while finishing their degree. In this way, I see Munk as high risk with high reward, whereas NPSIA mitigates some of that risk, but doesn't offer the opportunity to excel by comparison.
  15. These are a little outdated now but these are sample careers of NPSIA grads from 2003-2006 http://carleton.ca/npsia/npsia-works-career-futures/ About industry standard of 40,000-80,000 salaries for entry level positions. They also say similarly to Munk 80-90% find employment in the field within 3-6 months. while a few go onto academia.
