  1. Hi All, I got interviewed for a PhD position on Mar 19th after a long wait, then got put on waitlist on Mar 25th. On Apr 8th, the admin-in-charge of the PhD program writes saying that funding is limited and encourages me to accept PhD offer without funding. Has anybody faced this situation before? What do you think are my chances of getting an admit with funding if I wait, or funding after joining if I accept the current offer? Any suggestions regarding the actions I can take now?
  2. I got the following message from a univ where I applied for PhD in finance starting fall 2014 after being interviewed for 5 mins a week earlier: "You have been selected as a top choice among the large pool of applicants we received. Unfortunately, funding is very limited. At this point, all initial admission offers with financial assistance have gone out. We will retain a waiting list because there may be last minute changes and newly admitted students may change their mind about attending our program. Unfortunately, it's impossible to predict when, and if, this will occur. Please let me know if you would like to remain on the waiting list." I chose to be on the waiting list. Has anyone had a similar experience before? What was the end result? What are the chances the WL gets converted to an admit, and how soon can it happen? The university in question is Rutgers.
  3. Hi, Has anyone here applied and interviewed for any of the following universities? George Washington University Boston University Boston College Rutgers Please let me know if any of these programs give out their decisions without interviewing candidates. If anyone interviewed for any of these programs, could you let me know the questions they asked? In general, if finance PhD programs interview candidates and ask technical questions, what questions do they ask? How do I prepare for the technical questions? It would be helpful to know as I come from an engineering background.
