  1. Hi, Just wondering where they sent that survey to? Was it to your personal email address or your CSUN email? Thanks and good luck!
  2. Congrats on the interview! Just wondering, how did they inform you? Did they email your personal email account? Thanks!
  3. From what I've experienced, Canadian schools do not consider the CDA program in GPA calculations (which totally sucks).
  4. Hey everyone, I'm applying this fall for SLP in Canada and in the USA. Since I graduated from my undergrad in 2010, I am having difficulty finding a second academic reference to fulfill the requirement. When I inquire to programs about only being able to provide one academic reference while providing GREAT clinical references (from audiologist and an SLP), all I ever get is wishy-washy answers as to if that would be frowned upon. My personal opinion thinks that recent, amazing clinical references would be great for my application, but I'm not actually sure. I could MAYBE get a generic, not-so-good academic reference from a prof years ago who would not remember me...at best. I feel at a huge disadvantage since profs that would have provided me references are on medical leave or away on sabbatical. SO, I'm wondering, have there been applicants out there who have been granted acceptance with only one academic reference?? Or, am I basically outta luck here? Thanks everyone!
  5. I graduated from Brock in 2010, so not THAT much behind ya!
  6. We are in the same boat! What year did you graduate? Lol. I went to Brock specifically for it's program & how it prepped its undergrad students for SLP/Audi in masters hehe.
  7. These universities are well reputable actually, and are major universities. I am just clearing this up so that others are not misinformed.
  8. Canada has a few options, I did my undergrad degree at Brock University in Speech & Language Sciences, Applied Linguistics.
  9. Yes! It'll be third time applying for me (applied first time after undergrad, was accepted to one school in New York but did not attend, gained work experience, applied last year with zero acceptances) so I am getting old and would love to accomplish this already! I'm taking my GRE at the end of September so I can apply to more programs....eeek!
  10. Thought I would chime in on this topic: I work as an "SLPA" in Canada - but we have programs here (in Ontario), and we are called Communicative Disorders Assistants (CDA's). However, this program is not fully acknowledged across the country, it is way more recognized out east (Ontario area) most likely because of the programs that offer these job positions. I did some work as a CDA in Ontario before I moved to Vancouver, where there are a lot more opportunites (maybe because there are less qualified people in the province due to lack of the program here). Here, I work as a SLPA and as a "technician" -- as a tech, I am assisting audiologists in a hearing clinic. I really love the hands-on experience I have gained here & as a result have made some great connections within the field and LORs. Just thought I would pass on some Canadian info - feel free to PM me if you have any questions
  11. UBC was my top choice. After being rejected for the second time this year, I again inquired with admissions on how I could improve my application for next year. I was told that I met all requirements, etc. etc. etc., and there was a large applicant pool, but that there are no further recommendations! So, I am kind of at a loss. I would have liked to hear *something* - i.e. gain this or that, applicants accepted had a more competitive GPA...something! Any tips for those of you who have been accepted to UBC would be greatly appreciated, so I can kind of compare and see where I stand, as I try and figure this out for next year. Thank you!!!!
  12. Hi, oh, that is sad. !! Rough day for sure. I am not sure of my Plan B, I am on a rollercoaster ride that's for sure. I've been working towards this for YEARS and I'm getting old and I'm not sure what to do next. You?!
  13. Sorry to hear, you and I are in the same boat! How did you hear from UBC? I have yet to have an answer, but have basically realized that it's probably a rejection as well.
