  1. I'm off to Florida State University! Full tuition remission + stipend with my top choice assistantship. Couldn't be more thrilled!!
  2. I haven't made a final decision yet but FSU is definitely one of my top choices
  3. Hopefully I'll see you there! Still trying to figure out how to pay for everything but I'm sure I'll be able to make it up. Best of luck, I'm sure you'll get into Penn as well!
  4. Not sure of the accuracy of this info, but from what I heard there are 2 rounds of interview offers and then they send out denials.
  5. Are you going to Interview Days at IU? I was invited back in December as well
  6. I've been accepted to Florida State and invited to Visiting Days at Indiana University and the University of Georgia!
  7. 3 weeks til December 1st!! Good luck to everyone still working! #WeGotThis
  8. Hello everyone! I'm currently a senior undergrad student and I'm taking my senior capstone course. For the course we have to come up with our own research question and write a 25 page paper answering the questions. I'm struggling to come up with something I actually care about (it's worth it to note that I really dont like my major, but by the time I realized how miserable I am it was far too late to change, and I'm going to grad school for higher education so I just need a bachelors to get in). My interests in political science include judicial politics and race and politics. I definitely want to write about race and politics. Can anyone evaluate my research questions and provide feedback to make them better/more specific? I'm honestly lost at this point and any help is appreciated. "Are there examples of institutionalized racism in the American political system? How do these practices affect U.S. politics? Can a system of laws truly serve those it was never intended to protect?"
  9. Does anyone know if schools typically review applications on a rolling basis or wait until the deadline and then review all the applications?
  10. Thanks so much! I'm going to take my first powerprep tomorrow and see how it compares to Kaplan. It seems like it's the most accurate predictor
  11. How is everyone doing on their GRE prep? I'm sitting for the exam in 3 weeks and the nerves are definitely kicking in!
  12. Hello all, I'm signed up for my GRE for August 16th and I'm a little worried about doing well. At the beginning of summer I purchased a Kaplan prepbook and took a diagnostic test cold and scored a 156Q and 152V. I was pretty content with these being my base scores before any prep whatsoever, as my goals are to score a 155+ in each section. I worked full time this summer while taking 2 of the most difficult courses for my major and I definitely put GRE on the backburner (I still studied, but alot less than I probably should of) Now I've found the GradCafe and it seems from alot of the posts here say that Kaplan diagnostic tests are not as predictive for actual performance. I will be spending the next three weeks studying as much as possible and I downloaded the Powerprep software and I plan to take one of the time diagnostics this week. How reliable are the Kaplan scores, in your experience? If I spend 3-4 hours a day for the next 3 weeks studying, is it realistic for me to score in the 155+ range? Any advice is appreciated!
  13. I agree, the math is pretty straightforward and I'm been doing fairly well. The vocabulary is what's killing me the most!
  14. When is everyone taking the GRE? I'm scheduled for August 16th and I'm working hard so I only have to take it once. That $195 registration fee really hurt my pocket and I don't know if my heart can stand paying it again for a retake!
