  1. I'm so excited to hear you will be visiting in May! I'm not sure how many are on the waitlist this year, I would think the range would be between 30-50 students. I think about 10 have accepted their offers at this point (those who knew right away) and we shoot for a class of 36. I don't want to speak too soon but you may have a good shot. Are you able to contact the school to find out where you are on the waitlist? Milwaukee's waitlist is typically upwards of 80! If you have any other questions, feel free to PM me Good luck, your waitlists are sure to turn into at least on acceptance!!!
  2. A waitlist at UW-Stevens Point could be a great thing! I noticed a few of you were waitlisted. Last year was a really weird year for them and they got through the entire waitlist. I think they sent out acceptances really late. It is a great program, highly recommend!!
  3. I disagree with the statement that Midwest schools are easier to get into. The midwest is the birthplace of SLP, you will find it much more competitive than a lot of southern schools. This is not meant to say that there is anything better/worse about the midwest or the south but I wanted you you to be informed that it is not less competitive in the midwest.
  4. SOOOOOOO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!! SLPosteriorCricoArytenoid!!!! :)
  5. I did just find this on ASHA though: What if I did not do a master's thesis? Few master's student in CSD complete a thesis, primarily because clinical training programs are so time-consuming. Although the completion of a thesis provides an excellent opportunity for the master's student to learn first hand whether research is exciting, motivating, and interesting to him or her, there are other ways to accomplish this. Many universities have summer research programs for undergraduate students. As an undergraduate or graduate student, you may be able to assist a faculty member with research. Most doctoral programs have a well-delineated set of research experiences that prepare the doctoral student for the dissertation phase of their program. Thus, there is little assumption that students enter a doctoral program with research proficiency. If you have the opportunity to complete a thesis in your clinical master's or AuD program, it will be good preparation. But if you completed your master's degree or AuD without a thesis, you should not allow the lack of a thesis to deter you from considering a PhD program.
  6. iphi: I was afraid of that, I emailed and am hoping for some sort of compromise. I have not seen a program yet that does not offer this option.
  7. It is not a deal breaker but I do have other options, but this school is my first choice (hence the deposit). I am just feeling really nervous about not having that option makes me really concerned that I will miss out on a really great experience.
  8. Hello all, I put a deposit into the school I will be attending and just found out that they cut the thesis option for all incoming graduate students. I had been thinking about doing a thesis and now that I don't have the option I am extremely disappointed. Does anyone have any advice or comments about this? Signed, Nervous
  9. CosmicMorgan, I know a few people (myself included) who have taken or will take themselves off the Whitewater waitlist!!! Rooting for you!
  10. Many schools such as UW-Milwaukee have 70 people or more on the waitlist, and their desired class size is 25
  11. Hearing nothing from a school when you know that other people are being accepted/waitlisted/rejected. I heard some schools may do this to keep people "on call".
  12. No problem MangoSmoothie! I understand how meaning can be misunderstood. I am a little bummed about not receiving funding but I am happy to be going to grad school in general
  13. I was in correspondence with a professor today and thats what I was told so I was relaying that information to Polarbeara, thanks for the other info though!
