  1. You could also ask the programs their reasons for rejecting you (in an appropriate way, of course). That way you will know what you can improve, and if it's feasible to make those improvements before the next application season.
  2. Fall creek is where a lot of the graduate students live, more so than collegetown I believe.
  3. Hi! Glad someone started this, I'll be coming this summer for the Behavioral and Evolutionary Neuroscience program. Ithaca is supposed to be beautiful in the summer!
  4. Instead of applying to programs because they are still taking applications, I'd highly recommend taking time to figure out what you want to research and looking for programs that will help you meet your research and career goals.
  5. Black slacks look good with almost everything, and can be dressed up or dressed down. Pair with a blazer and nice blouse for an interview, or with a cute sweater or cardigan for dinner/cocktail party. Echoing others, it's so much better overdress than underdress!
  6. You could certainly frame it in the context of asking for a collaborative project, but I think it might come across better if you propose a project that you would be interested in undertaking, and asking if that would be a possibility under her mentorship. This way, you would come in with an understanding that there are opportunities to do the kind of research you are interested in, and she would not be surprised concerning your focus. You say that you're interested in connecting to the bigger pictures implications, so propose something that would demonstrate that! Congrats on the acceptance, too
  7. If you plan on accepting the job, turn down the interviews. Doing the interviews if you already know you wouldn't be accepting their offer is probably wasting everyone's time.
  8. Thanks for all of the input, there's some solid advice in this thread. I'm going to contact program A and let them know about the conflict, and request an alternate date / skype interview. Fingers crossed!
  9. A good/horrible problem to have - I was just invited to interview at one of my top choice programs (program A). Unfortunately, it is during the same weekend as another top choice program (program B ), and I have already accepted the invitation and booked tickets for program B. These two programs are tied for my top choice, so I'm wondering if turning down the interview at program A will mean I will not be accepted later down the line. Has anyone experienced this issue? What were your outcomes? Thanks!
  10. I see where it says to add experiences, but I don't see where there is a limit suggestion. Mine just says this: http://imgur.com/xerZHdo Can someone screen shot it for me?
  11. That doesn't show up on mine, where does it say this?
  12. If I want to apply under behavioral neuroscience, would it be better to submit an application under the Life Sciences division (Neurosciences) or the Psychology division (physiological psychology)?
