This might be a bit early, but Is anyone else applying to Historic Preservation programs for fall of 2015? I'm considering UVa, Clemson, Columbia and UPenn. (The last two are probably out of reach financially, barring really good funding). I'm also considering the University of Oregon program-I'm finishing up my undergrad here in Eugene, but I really want to move to the East Coast.
Any opinions on a dual planning/HP masters? Is UVa the best school for this? My ideal program would be planning centric with courses/research on social theory of preservation, and also have a studio component/field work. A lot of programs seem to have similar coursework, so it's hard to tell what sets them apart, and unfortunately I can't make it out east to visit individual programs.
What schools are you all considering? How are you deciding where to apply? Also, if anyone has information specifically about UVa, I'd really appreciate it.
