  1. I'm about to wrap up the first year with the St Leo MSW online and it was tough. There is now the internship / field practicum process. I will have work PRN at my current job (this is not what I was expecting at all) and will not get the internship assignment that I had hoped for. Big disappointment. This first internship begins at the end of August and I have nothing lined up. It is still in process. I suppose my liaison has this down to a science but I find it a little frustrating. Background checks, interviews, etc take time and the agency - where ever I do end up interning - has to have time to make their decisions. This just seems a little too down-to-the-wire for my comfort. In the third year, the second practicum will be done. I will definitely be way ahead of the ball then - as I want to make sure that I intern in a field that I eventually work in later.
  2. I agree with ssk14. Saint Leo did not require GRE with a specific GPA. There is another program in Florida, I can't recall which one, that has a similar arrangement. I never hurts to do some looking around and keep your options open
  3. Hey Pumpkin27: That's great you found some constructive support!!
  4. 1-I agree with the other thoughts that you do need to consider your participation and take care of yourself academically. Your thoughts on that particular topic were valid and it does seem odd that it wasn't opened for some dialog. But sounds like the instructor was maybe more interested in keeping to the class-time-task? 2-Don't take offense to an open comment. Opinions are everywhere and we don't have to agree or like them. If that was actually what the person said, however, I think that it says more about them than you. Let it go - you probably can find someone else who might actually discuss the topic if you look around for them. -- good luck with the class!
  5. So far I'm liking it - we have a face to face online video chat type meeting once a week for one of the classes. The other is mostly lots of writing. I will be talking to my liaison about field work placement next month which should be interesting because the place that I want to intern is not on their listing. Does your program coordinate your field work assignments or is that up to you?
  6. I had a similar problem due to my work circumstances. I had just left one company (that did not allow supervisors to give references) and working at a new company where they did not know me well as a recent new hire. I ended up using a former non-profit organization past-president. I had worked with her at a job from well over 10 years ago and it was a very different business field. It worked out though - we discussed the issues she could support and we did a letter. You might want to contact the advisor/liaison that you are working with at the school. They may have some suggestions. Good luck!
  7. I have just started the online MSW with St Leo. I am on the 3 year track as I work full time. I am curious if anyone else on here has done their MSW program or other online degree?
  8. HI jsucre3: My daughter went to UCF for undergrad. She liked the school and she followed it with Stetson for grad school. Sorry I don't know anything about the MSW program there. She liked the Orlando area - it is bad for traffic but good for part time jobs. Hope that helps a little. If you know anything about the St Leo MSW let me know! Good luck!
