  1. I think it will be better to ask him directly the following question: Can you a strong letter of recommendation for me which can support my application? Check his answer and decide accordingly! Good Luck
  2. My score in verbal was not that good. I got 154! However, I knew some tricks which helped me answer better: 1. Read the question first. Then, paraphrase the question to clearly understand its purpose. After that, read the passage and try to find the answer. When you find the answer try to paraphrase it. Finally, check the choices and choose what you think mostly resemble the answer you paraphrased. 2. Try to train yourself on understanding what other people means by their words in your daily communication. In comprehension passages, you are asked to understand what the author meant by his words and choose the answer accordingly. You are not asked to provide your opinion! Try this and I wish you all the best Mohammed
  3. I think that the key point is to have the letters from PhDs who know you well. A letter from a postdoc who know you well is better than a letter from a professor who do not you as much. Good luck!
  4. Her letter may serve as evidence that I am a very effective person in my country. The work I do with her shows that I have an impact in improving the field in my country. That is to show you why I thought about that. What do you think??
  5. Hello, I have a questions regarding recommendation letters. Usually PhD programs ask for 3 recommendation letters (I tend to apply for Biomedical Sciences PhD). As I have been graduated since 2009, it is somehow difficult for me to get recommendation letters from professors. I knew a professor in the field of pharmaceutical technology who did not teach me during undergraduate studies. However, I came in contact with her for the past 2 years as we were working together to help many Egyptian hospitals start providing clinical pharmacy services to their patients. She has many connections with Egyptian hospitals and asked me, based on my experience in the field, to conduct several training programs for pharmacists in these hospitals. She can comment on my work with her and my presentation and teaching skills and professional attitude. Can I get a recommendation letter from her? My plan is to get recommendation letters from the following: 1. Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy who knew me for 2 years during undergraduate studies 2. Lecturer of Critical Care Medicine who got his MD two years ago and worked with me in hospital setting (He also knew me for 2 years) 3. Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology with whom I worked to develop the field of Clinical Pharmacy in several Egyptian hospitals (Notice that Pharmaceutical Technology is not related at all to Clinical Pharmacy or Biology) Thank you! Mohammed
  6. Thank you all for your answers. Actually I worked with this doctor in my hospital to provide clinical care for patients. I think he will be more able to comment on my professional attitude and my potential to succeed in a graduate program. Sometimes we read papers together. Sometimes we collect certain data about patients to develop a policy for certain problems. DO you think this will be enough?
  7. I think it depends on the minimum GRE scores set by the university to which you tend to apply. Check their requirements!
  8. Hello, I really want to thank your for this amazing forum. It contains very helpful information. I tend to apply for biomedical sciences PhD in US universities. Actually I have been graduated 5 years ago during which I worked in clinical practice, and it is very hard to get more than 2 recommendation letters from my undergrad professors. Consequently, I think about getting LOR from one of the physicians I was working with in my hospital. He has Medicine Doctorate (MD) not a Ph.D. Can I ask him for a LOR? Is it a must to get all LOR from faculty with a PhD and not a MD? Thank you very much Mohammed
