I was accepted to University of Chicago on Friday! I was notified of application status change via email, and I sent my application in on Jan 15.

I'm waiting to hear back too! Not my first choice, but I still am waiting patiently.

Thanks for letting me know, hopefully that will be the case for me too. That puts me on schedule to hear back around next week

Thanks for all the great info @kurkz! Anyone else still waiting on a decision? I called the office last week to make sure my transcripts were through after the posts on here about wrong addresses (mine aren't lost, thank god). I also asked how long I should expect and they said 2-4 months! Seems so late to me, hopefully they're just overestimating.

Yeah very disappointing. Not a sign of a good future for the program either, so regardless of my chances it was kind of a huge turn off for me.

I have not, but I have been in contact with a first year student from SJSU from this forum and she has given me the following info: " "I hope you applied at other schools because the president of our school has intentions to drastically reduce the acceptance rate from 120 students to 60 students and keep in mind about 400-500 students apply! But out of the 60 students: -20 will be accepted for part time -20 will be accepted for full-time -20 students will be accepted for Title IV-E!! So it even further reduces your chances of being selected. Our school president wants to drastically reduce the social work program because he doesn't consider social work a high demand career in the Silicon Valley. Therefore, with the cutbacks, that money will be REdistributed into high demand careers which are engineering and business, as stated by the President of our school. Reducing the admittance to 60 students demonstrates how with time our program will diminish." Sooo...with that information at hand, I'm not exactly optimistic!

Congrats! When did you submit your application if you don't mind me asking?

I turned in my application the day it was due. So not sure why I'm hearing so much earlier than all of you. Unless they're going alphabetically or something-my last name starts with B? Probably not, haha.

Thanks, I wasn't hopeful about UCLA so I'm not too upset. I got an email saying that a decision has been made regarding my application and to log in and check my status.

I'm also applying for SJSU! I am currently finishing my BA at another school in the bay and would love to stay here. I'm also applying to schools in southern California and schools in Chicago (where I'm from). Does anyone know about what time the admissions decisions start coming out?

I'm an undergrad at Santa Clara with a 3.5 GPA (as of end of junior year) Psychology major, sociology and Spanish minors 4 months experience working as group facilitator for 9 week job search mentorship program for disadvantaged women Nanny for 9 months, worked extensively on homework and improving reading with child 5 months experience as program intern for nonprofit that assists disadvantaged women with career services (turned into group facilitator position) Camp counselor for 5 year olds for one summer at day camp Social media/outreach volunteer at mental health agency Volunteer intern at local nonprofit in Buenos Aires while studying abroad there for a semester. Set up art workshops in public children's hospitals and assisted families in times of crisis 4 months experience as volunteer at non profit that assists people with diagnosed psych. disorders with career services and finding work Nervous about my experience being related enough! And coming right out of undergrad...
