  1. I think someone posted earlier asking this but there was no response yet. Has anyone heard from Michigan EEB? Looking at the dates when people posted results last year we should start hearing end of last week/this week.
  2. Ok, revision, about 30% of interview candidates end up attending their program. Sorry about the confusion. Also, does anyone have an idea about rates for Duke's Genetics and Genomics Program?
  3. I posted a while back about an interview conflict with UC Davis and Duke (both genetics & genomics programs). I already committed to Duke and was told by UC Davis a skype interview is the only alternative they can offer. Do skype interviews hurt chances of offers of admittance? It just seems like they wouldn't get as well of a picture of me as an applicant but I understand why it has to be this way.
  4. I told my second choice I could go to their interview weekend but have not booked any travel arrangements (I was going to do it later today ironically).
  5. Do most programs have multiple interview weekends? I got an interview offer two weeks ago for one of my top choice programs and just got one today for my top choice, and of course they are the same weekend. I emailed the second program inquiring about any other times they might have available. If they don't list any other options do programs tend to just have one weekend?
  6. Does anyone know some approximate stats about interviews? ie what percentage of people that get interviews are accepted? I got a request for an interview already and just wanted to know what my chances are once I get to the interview stage?
  7. I just re-read this and I realized this might come across as conceited. I am just nervous about the whole process and am intimidated by people with publications etc. I was hoping it might be enough to make an application standout.
  8. Undergrad Institution: “public ivy” Major(s):Bio & Environmental Sci Minor(s): GPA in Major:3.81 Overall GPA:3.71 Position in Class: no clue Type of Student: domestic male Grad Institution: big public Major: Education/curriculum & instruction (Master’s) GPA:3.86 GRE Scores (revised/old version): Q: 167 (94%) V: 164 (93%) W: 5.5 (98%) B: 920 (99%) Research Experience: 3.5 years in undergrad (evolution focus), also while on study abroad (ecology focus). Any Other Info That Shows Up On Your App and Might Matter: I really try to play up the teaching aspect. I’ve taught a wide variety of students and a wide variety of subjects (bio, chem., anatomy & phys) I’m primarily interested in evolution on the genetic level (specifically the evolution of gene regulation) Applying to Where: Umass: OEB Indiana: EEB Michigan: EEB Duke: G&G UC Davis: IGG UC Berkeley: MCB UC Irvine: EEB One question: is a 99% on the subject score something admission committees will be impressed by or will it be more of a footnote on my application?
