  1. So I got an email from one of the professors at UNC trying to convince me to go to one of the visitation weekend. However, I was of the impression that they wanted me for my money because the only admission information I was given was through the Graduate application website and I wasn't given any information on funding or visiting or scheduling. So, I kinda just wrote off UNC as a place that I would like to go but couldn't without adding to my already massive pile of debt. Since that was my impression, I already booked visits to other schools that I got in at. Now I'm kinda confused, this email expresses a significantly more amount of interest then I was given at the start and I don't know how to respond. I'm certainly not going to cancel visits to the other schools I applied to but I'm wondering if I should see about making time to visit the school at another time. If professors are interested enough to contact me maybe they will be willing to fund my time at the school? What next steps would you guys suggest?
  2. Idk, I don't know much about the program outside what I've heard from co-workers and online. I'm feeling significant pressure to go there but I don't have a feel for the environment of the campus. Unfortunately, there are only really 2 or 3 professors whose work is exciting to me but part of why I'm interested in this program is because it has a lot of faculty who do work in many different sub-fields of chemistry. I like the idea of being in California but at the same time I'm going to be far away from all of my friends and family and SF is expensive. I also don't know how funding works at Cal so I don't know if admitted students will have some sort of guarantee for funding or what. Idk, it would be fun to brag about this school while I'm at my ugrad school but I'm probably counting my chickens before they've hatched. (with my 3.6, gre's < 75%, no pubs, and only a year of research, I probably don't have a shot, but no news is good news?)
  3. Wow, I guess I should have expected that from GT considering how late the application was due but still that's late especially considering that we've been hearing back from several schools like UW-madison and UT-Austin to name a few.
  4. Edit: the question was answered already... reading is hard...
