Hello there, A question to international students studying at Columbia. I wanted to ask how long did it take for you to get your I-20 forms? I know that on the official site it is stated that processing time is 4 weeks, but I heard that actually it takes a shorter period of time. I am facing an issue of not arriving at on time as my scholarship provided financial statement only today (even though I got accepted in April). Also, are there any students who arrived late (1-2 weeks)? Was it allowable and what kind of penalty you faced?
  2. @morgfun, Thanks for sharing information! I am going to consult with professors at my university and see what they say. What I know is that my Structural Engineering professor did his phd at UCSD with Pr.Restrepo and he highly commended on both his professional and personal skills and he encorouged my going there (I wrote in my SOP about my interest in this prof). Anyway, let's post about our choices after April 15. Maybe we'll end up being in one university =)
  3. To the previous post. If you are an international applicant, the deadline for decision is May 15 (extremely weird). I asked about my status by e-mail, and was given such reply. But, I applied for MS, so maybe for PhD there is another date.
  4. I have the same struggle! Why on Earth did I apply to too many programs?! Now I'm facing the problem of selecting among them all. I shortened the list to three universities: UCSD, Purdue and Columbia. Still, hard to choose one. While both Purdue an UCSD are great in the structural engineering field, the only thing attracting me to Columbia is Ivy League and location in the heart of Manhattan. Being international applicant, I've always dreamed about living in NY. Also, I'm going to PhD afterwards anyway, hence In my opinion, it would be better for me to choose something for heart for my MS degree and for Phd I will choose the one matching my research of interest.
  5. Hi there! Congrats to those who have already been accepted and good luck to applicants who's still waiting for decisions. As of myself, I am applicant in field of Structural Engineering. Have no idea how you post this accepted/rejected thing at the bottom, so I will place it right in this letter. =) Accepted: UCSD, UWashington at Seattle, CU Boulder, UPitt Rejected: Georgia Tech (saaad) Interviewed: Columbia Still waiting: Purdue (fingers crossed!), UBC Vancouver, Virginia Tech I wonder if any of you, guys, have created a thread for accepted students to any of these universities. I would be more than glad to participate in discussion pertaining to the program features and housing related issues, as I am still not sure which program to choose. Thanks!
