  1. Hi everyone, I have a fellowship to earn my MA in Strategic Public Relations at USC Annenberg, which includes a $20,000 stipend distributed August-May. This equates to 10 payments of $2,000/month. My letter says that my stipend is subject to being taxed, and that I should consult with a tax person. I plan on doing this, but I am wondering if you all have any experience or knowledge on this. My income for this year (January-August) will be between $7,000 and $8,000, so my total income for the year will be no more than $18,000. Also, if there are other threads in here about this topic, please direct me to them! I have found some relating to international students, but nothing otherwise. Thank you, and good luck with your endeavors!
  2. I think you're talking about USC, and they emailed me my acceptance like, 3 days before it was updated on usconnect. They are evil, but you are fine!

I'm also wondering about Ktown. I'm moving to LA with my boyfriend who will be working in Film while I'm at USC, and I'm really worried about driving home at 930pm to an unsafe neighborhood. Oh, Los Angeles.
  4. It's natural to be nervous! I applied in mid-December, too, so I think that's why I found out so early. When did you submit your application?

Hi! Yes, I applied pretty early (and only to USC) and was accepted in mid-February. I had a scholarship interview yesterday and will find out the results of that by Friday, apparently. Have you heard anything yet?

I'll likely be getting my M.A. in Strategic PR from Annenberg, and I know that the majority of the classes run until 9 or so at night. I'm planning on suffering through the pain of buying a parking permit, because I know that I don't want to be taking the bus through south central that late in the evening. Something to consider!
  7. Have you heard anything from USC yet? I was recently admitted, my stats are a ~3.2 GPA, 152 Verbal, 154 Quant, 5.5 AWA for the GRE, and a ton of experience on campus. My transcripts are super messy and I actually almost failed out at one point during my sophomore year, but I think a very strong personal statement and letters of rec helped me.
  8. Thank you! I only applied to USC, due to financial and geographic restrictions, so it feels wonderful to be in this position! It is a departmental merit scholarship as far as I am aware, not a university-wide scholarship. I was told that they have a few awards that are $5k-$10k/year, a few Project Associateships, a Dean's 1/2 tuition scholarship, and a full Dean's scholarship + Fellowship. I am leaning towards holding off on submitting it, but I am getting so anxious!
  9. I've been accepted into USC's M.A. in Strategic PR program! The email said that I am a finalist for merit scholarship, and I have an interview in March. Also, I thought I'd let all of the Ph.D candidates know that I was told that M.A. students DO NOT teach undergraduate classes at Annenberg, so I'm assuming it's all on the Ph.D students. Question: If I know for a fact, with or without funding, that I'm attending SC, should I fill out my intent to enroll, or will this hurt my chances at aid? There is ONE fellowship available for my program, and I'm trying to decide whether submitting my intent to enroll will hurt or help my chances of getting that package.
  10. Hi everyone, I got really ballsy and only applied to one school for my M.A, because I was restricted by finances and geography. I was accepted SUPER early (apps aren't due until the end of the month and I was admitted a week ago). This apparently means I am a top candidate, and I have a scholarship interview set for early March. Scholarships range from $5k/year to a full ride with benefits and a stipend. I'm going to attend this program no matter what. My parents have agreed to take out loans to cover what isn't covered by aid--education is important since I am a first generation college student and this is an extremely prestigious university. My question is, do I submit my statement of intent to enroll NOW, or do I wait? I am worried that they won't want to give a student their only full ride + fellowship package who maybe won't attend, but I'm also worried that if they KNOW I'm going to go no matter what, they will be stingier on funding and won't be trying to "buy me". Also, this is a program in Public Relations. If anyone has tips on how to prepare for the interview I would very much appreciate it!
  11. San Diego is one of the most expensive cities in California, so both London and San Diego will be expensive to live in. I think you should choose based on what you want your job prospects to be.
  12. Strategic Public Relations. I applied just before the holidays, so I'm hoping I'll find out by the end of this month. Thanks!
  13. Has anyone heard from USC Annenberg's M.A./M.S. programs? I applied well before the deadline, and they told me it would be a 6-8 week turnaround. I'm approaching Week 7 and the anxiety is only getting worse! PS. Congrats to all of the PhD admits at USC! Hope to see ya there
