  1. I am not sure if this topic has been discussed elsewhere, but does anybody have advice regarding funding negotiations for Philosophy PhD programs? I know universities probably don't get wiggle room when they make their offers. However, I have been accepted to several schools. All but one have offered funding around $23,000 (with tuition + health insurance). However, I nabbed a fellowship at another institution for a total stipend of around $33,000 per year (also with tuition and insurance). I know I won't get these other schools to go up that high, but is it worth asking? Or do I just risk losing the offer altogether, or starting my relationship with the university off on the wrong foot? Has anybody had success in negotiating their funding offer?
  2. Thanks!! I am interested in Phenomenology and Phil of mind (neurophenomenology), especially as it applies to the philosophy of culture and aesthetics.
  3. Hello! I can claim the Boston College admit. It also came with an additional fellowship, which might have to do with the earlier notification...? 4a/1r/0w (15)
  4. Haha. Good luck!... And thank you! It's been a whirlwind. I'm interested in Merleau-Pontian phenomenology, aesthetics, and cultural study, and also using analytic and continental thought in tandem to discuss issues of consciousness, mind, and aesthetic experience.
  5. Hey all, I can claim the Stony Brook acceptance! I also got accepted to Vanderbilt and Temple. What are you interested to know? (I have always looked around these forums, but this is my first post. So...hello!)
