  1. hahaha i like your style. i stalked the hunter thread on this forum all the way back until 2012 before my interview. to answer your questions, i interviewed on 4/2 and was accepted on 4/15. almost exactly two week turn around, but i think they were on spring break the week after my interview so i'm not sure if they were reviewing applications at the time. in regard to the interview, it is very laid back. and trust me.. coming from someone who has anticipatory/performance anxiety big time, i know that's hard to believe - but previous posters weren't kidding when they said it's more like an open discussion. questions asked (as best as i can recall): 1.) Why social work/why hunter (nobody in my group actually got around to the why hunter part because the interviewer tells you to make your response as concise as possible, but i would try to squeeze it!). hint: make your answer relevant and legitimate. i think they are looking for a little more depth than "i had a great experience with a social worker when xyz happened to me" or "i've always wanted to help people". 2.) Describe your experience in the field/any related experience, which segwayed into which populations you'd like to work with 3.) Describe your social identity (bonus: talk about how your social identity will influence your work with future clients/populations) 4.) Vignette: you are working at a college counseling center, one of your clients is a veteran coping with PTSD/Depression, he asks for your number for times "when he is feeling down", what do you do? (obviously this is a pretty straight forward ethical dilemma but it brings up some other issues too, try and think critically about the vignettes and don't just give a surface level answer). it's possible i'm forgetting a question but honestly the interviewer seemed to go with the flow of our conversation and answers. we ended the interview with a written response to an article about poverty/food industry in nyc. a word to the wise: make sure you read the full article. i mistakenly thought it was only one page when it was double sided and only responded to the first page! yikes! biggest piece of advice would be to actively participate and interact with the other interviewees. show off your awesome listening skills. build upon each others ideas. don't always rush to be the first to answer, but make sure you get your say in. trust me, after you answer the first question your nerves will calm and it feels pretty natural! it also helps to have an idea of the questions that will be asked, which was why this forum was a life saver :-) let me know if you have any more questions!
  2. me too! yay! - do you know if there is an accepted students page or anything?
  3. i interviewed on 4/2 and my status changed to being reviewed yesterday to pending dean decision today...I am also freaking out! hopefully we will have a deicision by tomorrow..
  4. so sorry @rebekahh - best of luck to you in your future endeavors!!
  5. ahh finally got the email to set up an interview this afternoon.. my application was complete 02/26 and I'll be interviewing on April 2nd. best of luck to everyone!
  6. so i emailed the admissions office and they said if your status says pending interview on your app then you should get directions on how to proceed by monday...don't know if i trust them at this point but here's hoping!
  7. Hunter is driving me pretty close to insanity!!! check my email (literally) every ten minutes...my status has been pending interview for ten days now, and deposit deadlines for other schools i've been accepted to are approaching or have already passed does anyone remember the timeframe of when their application status changed to when they recieved an interview invitation?
  8. ok obessively posting now but i'm so confused because my application status was updated to pending interview last night and then this afternoon it says decision available but when i click the link the page doesn't load! what the heck! hopefully it's a fluke....or i'm rejected, because i haven't seen anyone been accepted without an interview :l
  9. My status just changed from submitted to pending interview yesterday afternoon...anyone remember how long it took to receive an invitation by email after their status changed? Seems to vary a lot
  10. gotcha, mine was submitted near the deadline but wasn't complete until 02/26 for whatever reason? guess they were slow in processing but i'm convinced i won't hear back till april and i have to put deposits down for other schools in the upcoming weeks! hunter is my number one though. blergh, so stressful. good luck with your interview!
  11. congrats! when was your application complete?
  12. just came home to my acceptance letter! is anyone attending the accepted students reception? also, anyone out of state?
  13. Hey guys! I was expecting my Simmons decision by mail last week and didn't hear anything. I'm out of town this entire week so I might have something in the mail when I return home next monday but I got an email from them inviting me to an accepted students day... is it safe to say that I was accepted? haha i'm a bit confused but did anyone else get emails like that from Simmons with no official acceptance yet?
  14. Did you send your official transcripts or just upload unofficial ones? I submitted by application on Feb 11th and it still isn't complete blergh!!!
  15. I did, and on my portal it says decision mailed but i still haven't gotten anything yet! i'm in philadelphia so I was expecting something today. the wait is brutal, i don't know why they didn't post decisions online.
