  1. Assuming you mean Portland State U (not Penn) - During your GA, they offer partial tuition remission ($3000/term, 3 out of 6 terms over 2 years) and a small stipend. If you are from out of state, they also offer in-state tuition during your GA which is a significant difference. I assume these offerings are the same for everyone. I was also offered 2 scholarships from PSU. Total, it works out to be about 1 out of 2 years fully funded by PSU. I was lucky enough to receive an external scholarship to cover the other half.
  2. hi juniper! i did accept PSU's offer after i got word of some additional external funding to help sweeten the deal. i know based on an email with Ian that at least one of the applicants that they offered admission to is still deciding, as of a few days ago, so there may still be hope yet. if anyone else is going to PSU please message me!! would love to connect since it's such a small program.
  3. Not me, but a friend of mine received her letter of acceptance (by post) for Alfred sculpture 3 weeks ago.
  4. I emailed USC and was told all decisions would be sent out "mid-march so very soon", just FYI to everyone.
  5. hey wzhao, out of curiosity, what did SAIC offer you exactly? why did they offer you acceptance to their undergraduate program? sorry if you posted already, I don't remember seeing anything about that kind of offer in the forum.
  6. I just emailed Ian to ask for more info about the g.a. stipend/remission and how those funds are distributed. I believe that the 3 g.a. term offering is typical, mine is the same. I just inquired about how many FTE hours that translates to which will give a better idea of income. I was also offered a non-resident scholarship for the terms that I won't be teaching. The funding isn't great but honestly, I was expecting less after my interview (when I asked about funding he essentially told me about the g.a. stipend and remission, but didn't mention this additional scholarship so I'm not sure how many of those they offer up). Considering my other offer was a full tuition remission I'm definitely feeling that same anxiety! but I definitely want to go to the right school for me instead of choosing based solely on funding. Did you get in to any other schools (yet)?
  7. I was accepted to Florida State (10 people) and Portland State (7 people)
  8. when Ian called me last week with the offer, he said he was calling all of the admitted applicants that day. you might be/are probably on a waitlist if you interviewed. there were only 7 spots to fill (5 left after me and kate_ho) but you never know who might decide not to accept! personally i think i will end up there!
  9. Literally just got the call from Ian with my acceptance to Portland State! Kate_ho - if you're in, you'll hear from him today. Good luck!!
  10. Sorry to hear that your interview didn't go well with UCI! But if it's any consolation, I had an interview that I thought didn't go very well and was accepted (1 of 10 people accepted) so you never know! If they like your work enough, it might outweigh a bad interview. Good luck!!
  11. Ian Whitmore told me they are aiming to have decisions out early to mid March, but it could be later. Last year it took them until MAY(!!!) to send out acceptances. He also told me they are aiming for 7 acceptances this year. He said they changed the system to make it go smoother/faster this time around, but also given that they decided to interview a larger number of applicants, it's hard to say if they will be able to send them out as early as he anticipates. I hope so, because I need to give my decision to another school by March 16th. :-\ If i don't hear from PSU by around that date I am going to call and explain the situation, hopefully if they know one way or the other they'll be able to tell me upfront instead of waiting for a formal notice. I was planning on contacting UCI next week just to confirm my rejection, just kind of waiting to see if the formal letter comes in the post before I inquire with them. I have the same hesitation to contact them about it. I'm waiting for 2 schools that I haven't heard from at all. (The other is USC.)
  12. I heard (from another poster earlier in the thread) that UC Irvine already conducted interviews. The first post was several weeks back, and another maybe a week or two ago. I'm still waiting for them, too, but kind of assuming rejection based on that. How did you find your interview with PSU? I had one too and thought it went well, but Ian told me they chose to interview more candidates this year than previous years so I'm not really sure how "short" the shortlist is.
  13. I interviewed and was accepted to FSU. Acceptance letters went out last Tuesday.
  14. hi Tong2015, I received my acceptance to FSU by email today, much sooner than I had anticipated hearing back. Sorry if this brings bad news for you. Good luck with your other applications!
