  1. A bit late to the party but anyone know which programs are considered the most competitive so I can avoid them I applied back in 2016 to what I can see now are one of the most competitive (Carleton, Ottawa and SFU) and got totally rejected, so I decided to take further courses (as a non-degree student) and apply again in the future So far the only Universities on my list are Saskatchewan and Windsor
  2. So after grinding through this decision, I decided to make a late application for an MA (deadline is Feb. 1). After paying the application fee I looked at the required documents and they mentioned an official transcript and this: For this purpose, a transcript is considered official only if it is received in a university envelope which is sealed and signed on the flap by the official person in the office issuing the transcript. These must be returned to you signed and sealed, for submission with the application package. So my question is, do applicants request the undergrad university to send it directly to the University of Ottawa or do I have it sent to my address and then mail it myself (with the letter of Intent/SOP and CV/Resume) Thing is every-time I have questions concerning the mailing official transcripts, I don't get a reply from them (emailed the grad.info and scsgrad email addresses) so I'm kind of panicking here
  3. This thread makes my grades look like cack I have a 2.1/4 GPA from a University in Quebec (I failed my 1st year in a totally different field, switched faculties and moved to another school where I was average except my 2nd year where I got a grand total of 0.6 GPA) After 5 years of graduating (working in my field in 4 of them), I'm nowhere near prepared to apply, every professor I wrote to refused to write a LoR so I have limited options Any ideas? I'm trying to apply to schools in Britain as deadlines for schools in Canada & the US have mostly passed (and that US schools are damn expensive for an international student), I'm also thinking of the Fulbright but I was told by someone that I need more experience to overlook my GPA
  4. Canadian here I'm kind of confused here how the UK grading system works Now I've seen many universities in the UK saying that they may accept people with a Lower second-class honours, a 2.2; thing is what is the 2.2? Wiki says it's a 3 - 3.3 GPA in the US (which means the same for Canada) While another source said that the Canadian equivalent of a 2.2 is a C+ (2.5)..... Which one is correct?
  5. Noob here, don't like coffee anyway Here's my situation Graduated in 2010 (barely) out of a University in Canada with a BA in Political Science (my transcript is a hoot, ranging from A+ to several F's) 3 years working in my field of study 5.5 years ago I took 2 seminar type courses (C+ & a B grade) so I'm thinking to ask them for a LoR. One of them is still teaching at the Uni while another is teaching as a visiting faculty in another university in the same city My question is: has anyone (with average grades: B) contacted their professors after a long wait (4-8 years) for an LoR? Any suggestions? Note: I live, say about 15000 miles from Canada (so face to face is kinda out of the question)
