First off, I have not picked a degree or a program that I want to apply to... I work in the nonprofit sector, but I graduated in December so I am still a ways off from actually applying. I have a 2.3 GPA from Texas A&M University with a B.S. in Leadership Development (minors in Sociology and Business). I will have excellent recommendations from my advisor, service organization advisors, nonprofit internship employer, nonprofit summer job employer, and I'm sure my current employer will be the same (at the time of application I will be at this job for more than a year). I have more than 1200 hours of volunteer work and around 500 hours of volunteer leadership work (varies from street clean up to creating middle school education websites to raising thousands of dollars for Parkinson's disease). I ran a nonprofit for a year ($40,000 budget), taken a service trip overseas, represented my nonprofit student group at national conventions, won dozens of awards, and am currently a finalist for a grant for an international nonprofit startup through UC- Berkeley. I am a month or so away from a Volunteer Engagement Certificate (Continuing Education) from the University of North Texas. I am trying to illustrate that my GPA has not prevented me from gaining a good amount of experience and success (I guess in my opinion), but am worried that it will prevent me from advancing my career. Many many many nonprofit positions require an advanced degree (MBA, JD, MA, or MPA typically), so if I am not able to gain admission I am afraid my career will plateau early. What types of schools, programs, should I consider because of my GPA, and what kind of GRE or GMAT score I will need to outweigh it. Sorry this is long, thank you for the advice though.
