Thanks for responding! I had a few friends studying for their BFA at CMU and have only heard positive things from them (faculty involvement/support, facilities, community..) but now that you mention that the school is focused on making "academic artists" I sort of see that now. It seems that CMU stresses and supports academic assistantships and value the balance of artmaking and teaching a bit more than other programs but I see this as only beneficial towards my practice. I am international as well so my decision is influenced by money/funding...I see that Northwestern has granted you a sweet deal! Congrats, full ride?? that's amazing!! I think I am going to end up choosing the school that offered me the most money. I really want to attended CMU (program and also city location which is important to me...opportunities outside of school) but pputting things in perspective, I think it's best to take advantage of the funding I am being offered by other schools...but it's so hard to let cmu go! haha Plus I think i would feel more comfortable spending money on materials to explore and take my work to the next "level" if I know that i'm supported financially by the school???????
I'm making my decision tonight...as of now i've declined upenn, alfred and cornell.......so idk how waitlist works but maybe possible spots have opened up for anyone on waitlist?!? It's come down to northwestern, keeping cmu in the loop and waiting for nyu.....
