  1. Hello! I am a student at PTS and the interview was perhaps my favorite part of the process and I now have a great relationship with my interviewer. It truly is nothing to worry about. There are many different people on staff you might interview with and they are all very fabulous. When I interviewed it was with the director of field education and when my boyfriend interviewed last month it was with my Greek Exegesis prof. Who you interview with dctates the topics covered. My interview focused on my past and what I plan to do with my life where other people ended up talking about favorite books, theologians, etc. If you have any questions about PTS and the process feel free to ask!

S I just figured out what I am doing with my life. Not exactly great timing considering the application season is almost over. Does anyone know of any schools that have good dual degree programs. I am looking to do a Masters of Divinity in conjunction with a Juris Doctor. Additionally, one that does not require the LSATs. Wish I had figured this out earlier!
  6. I was curious as to whether people know of any seminaries or divinity schools that do not have an application fee. Iliff School of Theology in Denver has no application fee if you apply before March 31st. Does anyone know of any other schools?
  7. The school I attend is extremely conservative in every aspect. In that respect, so are the faculty. I am a female theology major in a male-focused setting that I have been told that women have no place in. I am afraid that the recommendation of most of the faculty on campus would reflect this. They do not believe I should be going on to a higher degree in this field and in fact do not believe that I should be in this field at all. The adjunt who I would seek a recommendation from is not of this opinion.
  8. Is it okay to ask an adjunct for a letter of recommendation? I go to an EXTREMELY conservative college and I am not conserative at all. I'm the most liberal person on teh campus. I have taken two classes with an adjuct (his regular job is teaching at the local high school and only teaches 2 classes per semester at our college). He's not a professor but he is the person on campus that I have connected to the most. He isn't super conservative like everyone else (but nowhere as liberal as me). One is look bad if I asked him for one of my 2 academic LOR?
  9. Reading this thread just made me realize that I have yet to ask for recommendations!!!!!! I have the people all lined up and apparently my brain thought I had asked....but no! Crap, I really need to get on that!
  10. I am applying for M. Div. programs. BA in Religion (minor in psych) 3.0 Haven't taken GRE yet. Applying to: Princeton Sem, Yale Div, Union Sem (NYC), BU, Andover-Newton
  11. I am currently working on my applications to seminary and had a intresting fork put in my road. I have been offered the chance to be the director of a summer camp in New Hampshire. This would involve living at the camp during the year and seeing to the daily needs. It has been my dream to some day direct the camp, and here's my chance. However, I have had a horrible HORRIBLE undergraduate experience and I decided that I was going to go to a big seminary to remedy my undergrad experience. What do I do? Do I apply to the seminaries closer to the camp (Bangor Theological Seminary, Andover-Newton Theological School, Boston University) so that I can commute? Or do I apply where I had initially intended (Yale Dvinity School, Union Theological Seminary (NY))? Thoughts? opinions? help?
  12. I am interested in blogging about my Seminary application process.
  13. I've sort of got the whole grad school thing figured out. I know what degree I want, I know which schools I will be applying to, I know what I need to apply and when to apply. I've got a handle on all that stuff. I need help with undergraduate stuff. Please give me your advice! key facts: My college lost it's accreditation (but another college has agreed to cover us through the appeal process)Faculty and staff are fleeing (the whole financial aid department is now in the hands of someone who graduated in may)They've give me 2 weeks to come up with $1500 in order to registerThere is another University that offers online classesI could finish my degree (I'm a senior) online and graduate with a fully accredited diploma. The online classes are a third the cost of my current college.Everyone I know is giving me contradicting advice. I'm so stressed out it's not even funny. ALL ADVICE IS APPRECIATED AT THIS POINT!
  14. Two questions: How many schools did you apply to? What was the total that your application fees came to?
  15. I plan on providing at least one academic letter of recommendation. I go to a small school no one has ever heard of (so those are less attention grabbing). I do plan to become ordained (I'm looking at chaplaincy) and have started the process within the PCUSA. Thanks!
