U of M is probably the more established school, but engineering is no joke at UCI. Checkout the national fuel cell research center. And youll be living within 8 miles (not a bad bikeride) away from Newport Beach.......

Im looking to pursue a degree in the environmental sciences / earth system sciences field. PHD would be nice, but its a lot of dedication. Ideally though, Id love to have a PHD. Sounds like I should try to find a few specific masters programs that might fund me, and then apply to PHD programs everywhere else?

Im looking to go to grad school but preferably would like to get into a program where I would receive some sort of stipend to pay for tuition/rent with. Or at least tuition. Whats the best way to start looking for these kinds of programs? Ive looked at various programs across different schools, but its often hard to discern which is which....

How difficult is the GRE section for Physics? Im interested in applying to an Astronomy program but not sure how much I should prepare

Im looking to pursue a degree abroad in the field of environmental sciences / earth system sciences. I am especially interested in clean energy such as tidal generation and the like. I just graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a 3.2 GPA. How does this convert into the Irish and Austrialian system? I know with a 3.2 in the UK it is about the equivalent of a 2:2, or the lower secondary honors. I am somewhat competitive but have not taken the GRE yet. I have three letters of Rec lined up (one from an environmental professor, PHD, very smart guy, one film professor, and one researcher who I work with in the humanities). I graduated as a film and media studies undergraduate so I have taken basic physics, chemistry, calculus, and plan to take some basic bio classes to make myself applicable to these programs. I really like the University of Cork but it may be too competitive for me? When I traveled abroad I fell in love with Ireland, especially that area.
