Hey there, I live in Dallas too and I'm planning to apply to PhD program at UTSW for the fall of 2013. It's a very competitive program. I was wondering if you had any tips regarding the application process. How well did you do in your GRE and undergrad? Thanks for your help.

So, I registered today for the GRE. Im taking it in mid-July. How should I go about preparing for it? I have a strong math background, but my verbal needs some work. What do you guys think, would be a best approach for me? (Example: How do you combine preparing for vocab. with everything else?) I'm just trying to get opinions.

I am planning to apply for grad school for the fall of 2013, when do you guys think I should take my GRE? I was thinking september, but I'm wondering if that is too late as most of the schools have their deadline in December.

Gellert, when you say Barron's is the best book to prepare for vocab do you mean the book with the top 500 words or is there any other book, and did you recently take the new GRE?

How is everyone preparing their vocabulary for the new GRE and how extensive should the preparation be for the new GRE. I have the official book from the ETS and a book from Kaplan, should I also buy Barron's ?

I am looking into MPH program. Epidemiology of all the concentrations excites me the most. I am going to get more details on it. Thanks, for the response.

I'm a working professional and have been doing it for about a year now. I work in a clinical laboratory of a hospital as a lab technologist. I'm planning to work for 2 more years and then go to grad school to get a PhD in biological sciences (most likely Immunology or Microbiology). In these two years I want to take some grad school courses, but I don't know what kind of program to go for. I was thinking of getting a MBA, but I can't decide the concentration. I was also thinking of MPH, but not sure about that either. I want t work as a research scientist and teach at college level in the future. I would like to get enrolled into a program, that makes my resume look good when I apply to grad school in the future. Does anyone have any idea, what kind of program would be suitable for me? I would hate to not take advantage of this as the hospital I work for will pay almost all my tuition.

Im sorry I can't help answer your question, but I have a question of my own for you. 1420 in GRE is a pretty high score, can you give me some tips on preparing for it. My math is pretty strong, but I need help with others. Especially the vocabulary portion, how did you go about preparing for it??

How should I go about preparing my vocabulary??....with the change in the format of the test is vocabulary equally important
