  1. Thanks psychedelic. Can we call to see where we are on the alternate list?
  2. Found out I'm an alternate. Anyone know how their "waitlist" system works?
  3. Hey guys, Best of luck to you all. To see whether or not you elected to be considered for the "Honorable Mention List" if you did not get the Ford, login to your Ford account, click on Data Review, and the "Honorable Mention List" should be listed under the Personal Information section, below prime self-identity. Again, this does NOT suggest you are on the Honorable Mention List, just that you chose to be considered for it in the case that you did not get it this year (basically a conferral of prestige). Should be finding out results this week.
  4. Still waiting to hear back from Stanford Archaeology (I thought we were supposed to be notified last week). Please let me know if any of you have updates!
  5. @Nubiadoc Any new word on Stanford Archaeology? Have all acceptances been sent out? Still waiting to hear; hate the waiting game.
  6. Any updates in regard to Stanford Archaeology?
  7. Looks like a few people received notifications from Stanford Anthro...No word on the archaeology track though.
  8. Anybody hear from Stanford Anthro/Archaeology/know when notifications will be sent out?
  9. Would really appreciate to hear this info as well. Does it pertain to archaeology?
  10. Anyone hear from Harvard anthro/archaeology?
  11. Can primary authored articles be submitted as writing samples? I'm the primary author of an archaeological GIS paper that is currently being reviewed by a reputable journal. The other two authors are up-and-coming professors in the fields of GIS application and anthropological archaeology. I'm applying to grad schools in archaeology this Fall (for next year) and most of them ask for writing samples pertaining to archaeology. Would submitting this paper be ok? Any help is greatly appreciated.
  12. Thanks for your help. I'll contact my departments of interest and see if I can find out more. I've been hearing conflicting reports all over the interwebs about "cut-off points" and so forth. Do you honestly think they really exist?
  13. Hey guys, I recently took the GRE exam and didn't do so well (1120-580Q, 540V). I feel like I killed the AWA section so I feel I got between 5.5-6.0. However, I have a solid academic record and experience (3.97 GPA, Phi Beta Kappa, external funding for grad school from my undergraduate institution, soon-to-be publication in Journal of Archaeological Science, 5 summers of fieldwork). I also have a solid, supportive network. I was wondering, given my academic record and my low GRE scores, what you guys thought my chances were to get into a PhD archaeology program. I'm planning on applying to Harvard, UCLA, Vanderbilt, and a couple UK schools. Will my low GRE scores ultimately prevent from getting in anywhere? Appreciate any help/guidance, thanks.
