UC Berkeley Application

Has anybody else noticed that there is no section for uploading one's C.V. or manually listing one's employment history in the application for UC Berkeley...?

Listing other schools on applications...

10 November 2011 - 02:26 PM

Hey all,

I'm sure this question has been asked on the board before, but does anybody know if it is a good idea to list the other programs to which you're applying on an application where the list is optional? It seems to me like listing comparable or better programs might hurt my application, but I really have no idea. Any thoughts?

Writing Sample Length

26 October 2011 - 10:27 PM

Hey everyone,

Just a quick (maybe ignorant) question about the appropriate length of the writing sample. For programs that stipulate a maximum length of 25 pages, does anyone know if that includes the title page and bibliography? I was foolish enough to choose a 33-page term paper for my sample, not including title page and several pages of bibliography. Getting it down to 25 pages of text, plus the title and biblio, is one thing. Reducing it to 21 pages of text is quite another. Any advice here would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Interfolio for history applicants?

14 September 2011 - 01:28 AM

Hey everyone, so I already posted this question in the LOR section of the forum, but I don't know how many people are looking there. Since I'm applying to history programs, I think the responses might be more specific and helpful here... that is, if anyone has the answer I'm seeking. I just copied and pasted, so here it is:

Ok so I'm sure that this question has been posed before, but I can't seem to find an adequate answer. I am getting ready to apply to 10 phd programs for history, and I feel like that is a lot of LORs for my recommenders to upload, even if they use the same letter for all 10 schools. At least one of my recommenders is a very prominent historian with a crazy work schedule, so I cant imagine that he would enjoy spending an hour or two uploading the recs (on top of the time he took to write it).

At the same time, it appears that most grad schools now explicitly require the LORs to be uploaded online. Does anyone know of a good solution? Is using a dossier service like Interfolio feasible these days?

Thanks!

Interfolio
