  1. Well since I'm in the development studies department which has a multidisciplinary approach, I would be allowed to audit courses from many departments. I think you can check your graduate prospectus to see if they'll let you audit in different departments.
  2. You've had some application season. How can they wait list you for Phd if you applied for masters!! The best thing would be to just email them and hopefully it will be good news. Maybe the administration at your school is really inefficient so they forgot to inform you. Hope it works out for you.
  3. I don't think it makes much of a difference to an employer, if you're from a really good university and have the credentials they're looking for. However, going to another university for a masters would just be more interesting and challenging in my opinion.
  4. Well I'm most interested in Poverty & Inequality reduction, financial inclusion. Since I'm currently working in a related field. I'm hoping to take options on African Development, Complex emergencies, etc. But the ID Department has so many fascinating courses, I think I'll be auditing a lot as well.
  5. I did apply for funding. But was rejected in 30 seconds. I hadn't heard of Rosebery before this. But I applied to Butlers wharf, High Holborn and Northumberland. As for intercollegiate, I applied to Lillian Penson, commonwealth and Canterbury. LSE halls are where I want to stay. Interesting specialty by the way.
  6. Actually I'm not doing MSc IR. Is this thread for IR? But I think our fields might be related. I got admitted to MPA International Development. I want to work in the Development Sector. I was thinking of deferring but then I heard that MPA LSE doesn't even grant deferrals. Problem is I'll have a lot less relevant work experience compared to others in my class. Like 1/2 a year compared to others. On the other hand at Warwick I don't need work experience but LSE is my dream school! Anyways, I think hardly anyone gets funding at LSE, unless you are really lucky. And for me, I come from a country where higher education is highly subsidised. So any school abroad is definitely a huge loan for me. What will you specialize in? Which halls have you applied for?
  7. My other offer is University of Warwick (which is a lot cheaper!). And no word on funding yet. I applied to a few scholarships. What about you? Any funding?
  8. Hi. I'm considering attending LSE this year. I just can't seem to make a decision. its been 3 months since i got the offer.
  9. I've been wait listed by both SIPA and SAIS. I have no idea when i'll hear from either.
  10. Hi. I'm on the SIPA MIA wait list too. But I haven't heard from the admissions office since March. So frustrating since I'm an international student.
  11. Hi. I was accepted to the MPA International Development at LSE. It took me 3 weeks to hear from them after the fourth email. But I received the 4th email in Mid January... Other admits I found on another Forum to MPA PEP and the other MPA streams, received their acceptances in 3-4 weeks after the 4th email..
  12. Hi. I'm glad someone from LSE saw my post. You're right my first degree was in Economics. But it was frustrating because I was just studying theoretical models and never learnt how to apply the knowledge. I have previous work experience working in Govt schools in Asia and a lot of other work for NGO's. But not like crazy work experience. I have a few questions about the MPA: I heard there was a curriculum change and that we couldn't take as many options anymore? That somehow bothers me. How tough is it to take Economics options? I kind of like Econometrics so was taking that.. Are you European? I'm Asian actually so am worried about my job prospects after getting such an expensive degree!
  13. I'm an international student. LSE is a big name in my country. I think I am quantitatively strong, as in I have done a lot of Econometrics, Statistics before. I'm hoping to work in Asia. The course is two years and cheaper than the American universities I applied too. Its also has the option of a dual degree with Columbia SIPA. They have a year long capstone project but no internship requirement. But I don't think internships are an issue to LSE students..They can most often land one. I haven't received any financial support yet. But after speaking to other LSE admits, it seems chances are dim..
  14. Hello everyone... I was just admitted to the LSE MPA International Development. Are there any other people who've heard from LSE? I'm really confused.. Should I accept the offer or not? I would love to hear some opinions on LSE and their MPA.. Thanks in Advance...
  15. Hi. So I applied for Columbia SIPA MIA 2012. The application status reads "Application Under review" but Incomplete. What does this mean? Has it been sent to the admissions committee? I'm an International Student, so i don't know much about US universities applications.. Does anyone know about this? Thanks...
