  1. Congrats! Hope you can come to our prospective visit weekend. We go all out for it :-)
  2. I know you're trying to stay out west - and I don't blame you, I'm from the west and I miss it terribly - but here at Cornell, the're very much into interfaces. Just putting it out there. :-D

I just heard back on Thursday. I got the FLAS! woot! Glad I won't be teaching next year. :-)

    FLAS 2013-2014

So I've been hearing that a couple of friends from other schools were offered FLAS. According to my school, though, my particular language area group is awaiting word from the Department of Education about the number of FLAS that can be funded. Though in our language area group, no one has been awarded. On the other hand, another language group from our university has been awarded but it's contingent on funding. It appears to be sequester-related. Is this case for any of you??
  5. I did that earlier. Made me more depressed, tbh. lol
  6. Here, y'all need some calming pictures :-) https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&site=&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1366&bih=653&q=calming+pictures
  7. I see your "offer rescinded" in your .sig and read your post about it. How heartbreaking. You have my sympathies. :-\
  8. Welcome! Looking forward to meeting you in August. We met half of those accepted when we had the open house recently, and they look like a fun group. Congratulations :-)
  9. LSA fellowship results are in and.... I didn't get in. Ah well. here's to Chicago in 2015!
  10. The University of Washington definitely uses post-bac ( https://admit.washington.edu/Admission/Postbac ). UW's Speech and Hearing Sciences department has an official postbac program. Check out U Washington. I don't recall if they have an official postbac program, but I have known a couple of students who were postbacs. A friend of mine had a degree in Spanish, for example. She did her postbac at UW. And now she's in a linguistics program in one of the U California schools.
  11. I was accepted last year (but accepted another offer). The acceptance e-mail mentioned $5,000/semester towards tuition costs. Tuition is $7,038 per semester...
  12. Well, I'm at Cornell so I may be biased... ;-) But one thing I did was look at the list of graduates from the program and see where they ended up. But when all is said and done, it'll depend on you - the research you did and what you have published.
  13. Congrats! Are you coming up here for the visit next month?
  14. I am looking at the fellowships available for participants of this summer's LSA Institute. For the most part, they say they cover tuition. I suppose your mileage may vary and I plan on asking mine if I do get one, but for now, I'd like to know - do departments help cover funding as well?
