  1. Just got into University of Denver/Iliff School of Theology with full tuition after I resigned myself to Plan B! Such exciting news! But my heart really goes out to those not hearing such good news... I was very close to that point and felt the devastation.
  2. Emory MTS grad here. For what it's worth, I did well in my program, had excellent Emory references, and still haven't gotten into a doctoral program yet. I also wish I had done the MDiv at Emory instead. ESPECIALLY if ministry is in your future. Better funding, good, broad preparation. I am head over heels in Emory MTS debt, but I would have been funded pretty well if I had done MDiv. I thought MTS would get me to a PhD quicker, but I was young and naive and seriously overestimated how long the extra year would take. All that being said, my experience at Emory was invaluable; professors are great.
  3. I feel your pain. I haven't heard good news yet... still waiting to hear from two schools, including Emory. I have been told that the longer they take to tell you no the better, though. (I mean, obviously worse than being one of the first accepted, but better than being the first rejected.) I'd say you've made it through a couple of levels... at least, that's my opinion.
  4. Eh, I'd love to have those results. (ignore the bitter old woman in the corner.) Haha.
  5. What a quiet February day... eerie, almost, because Fridays seem to be a good day to either make or crush dreams...

Honestly, if you want to live in the city or at all close to Emory, less than $800 is nearly impossible, especially for a 2BR. My fiance and I were looking in that price range within 30 minutes of Emory when I went there a couple of years ago, and we only found little tiny 1 BR apartments, and not very nice, I might add. However, personality wise, I'd look in either Decatur or Virginia Highlands or around Little 5 Points. Decatur has a WONDERFUL huge market with fresh produce and breads and such (and good ethnic stuff) that is cheaper than you would even find at a grocery store. It is actually a huge draw for people in the area. (It may seem weird to plan your life around a market, but seriously, you will want to live within reasonable distance. People of all socioeconomic classes shop there; it's that good. Google Dekalb Farmer's Market.) Greenery will be fairly easy; this is the greenest city I've ever been in. Lots of trees and flowers and such. I can try to answer more questions, but good luck! I would start with Decatur... or Oakhurst, also a part of Decatur and full of young people around 20-40.
  7. No rejections yet. Interview for Boston University School of Theology via Skype. Though, it's a slightly different PhD program that probably not many here are applying to since it is housed in a seminary. (Still a PhD, though.)
  8. Obviously I am new to this site, so I didn't see the results link. Thanks! Now, is there a place on the site appropriate to go whine in?
  9. Is there a results page I am not aware of? Everyone keeps mentioning it...
  10. Interviews at both Emory and Vanderbilt? I have heard no word from either... should I go ahead and get sad? *laughs nervously* Any word from Drew? Boston U?
