I visited Ohio State for Biophysics this weekend and loved it.

I applied for Chemistry and Biophysics. I got rejected by Chemistry. Next week, I am flying there for an interview with the Biophysics department.

I was in a similar situation last year. My professor promised to take me as a PhD when funding became available. Funding became available and then he went recruiting new graduate students. In my department Master's students are seen as free labor that can be abused. Sometimes you get screwed. My best advice get out and find a professor who will appreciate you.

I got admitted for a Master's then found out people with lower stats than me got into the PhD program. To say the least, I am switching schools. Admissions is very complicated and makes no sense. My divison had no PhD spots open, but the others had lots.
