  1. Upgraded from Alternate to Accepted for a Full Research Grant to Italy!!!! Beyond excited right now!!!
  2. Rejected as well. That's 0/3 on fellowships. Looks like Ill be applying to all 3 next year
  3. Alternate to Italy I just wanted a definitive answer, this is very annoying.
  4. I haven't heard back yet regarding my Fulbright, but it should be any day now. For those of you who were awarded Full Grants, did they tell you the stipend amount in the offer? Thanks.
  5. So since it's past 5PM EST today, do you think it's too late to hear back from them today? I was really hoping and thinking that I would hear back today because Italy usually sends out notifications around first few days of April.
  6. I accepted the offer last week and then emailed Roger Kuhn. He confirmed that I had accepted the offer because he gets a notification or sees your name appear on the list once you accept. I haven't received any other information yet.
  7. I don't know about you, but I have accepted an offer from grad school already. If I get the Fulbright I would just defer my admission for a year, which is no problem with the program. Just find out if your grad schools allow you to defer admission after accepting their offer and this should clear things up for you.
  8. Wait list email as well. I'm in chemistry and will start phd in the fall.
  9. Did anyone else get an email today saying that they are still being considered for an award? And any idea if this means anything?
  10. I believe (but don't quote me on this) that half, if not more than half, of Munger is reserved for law students and the rest of the spots are available for other graduate students. I know one person in the chemistry PhD program who I met on my visit who got assigned to Munger for his first year of grad school.
  11. Yeah, graduate housing seems to be really good and convenient, so I will definitely be doing it for my first year at least. You can fill out a housing application online starting in mid April until mid May and as long as you fill it out by the May deadline, you have an equal chance of getting your top choice housing as anyone else. Hope that helps.
  12. So will we be getting an email or do we need to check our application online?
  13. Nice ray!! Yeah, I'll be moving from NY to Cali to attend Stanford!!
  14. Hey so I'm waiting on a Fulbright and have accepted an offer for a funded PhD program. I spoke with them on my visit and it is very simple to defer admission if I receive the Fulbright. You just need to get in touch with the PhD program and ask what their policy is with deferring admission.
  15. So, of the people who have decided on schools, where is everyone going?
  16. Is anyone else going to be attending Stanford? I am going to be joining the Chemistry PhD program and wanted to see who else is going to be there.
  17. Waiting on Columbia too, but it's just a rejection coming in all likelihood as they have told people already that all offers have been made.
  18. Also, I don't know what kind of research you are interested in, but keep in mind that a lot of programs in chemistry, for instance, allow you to perform research with faculty in other related departments (like engineering, applied math, physics, biology, etc) so you may get your degree in chemistry which correlates better with what you are doing in your undergraduate studies, but you can do chemical engineering research.
  19. That was me. I've called them twice in the past 2 weeks asking if they have made a decision on my application yet. They said they would make a decision as soon as they could, so I may have rushed their decision with my email.
  20. Just to correct my post, I didn't realize you want to apply for the DOE SCGF. I had applied for the DOE CSGF as I do computational and theoretical research. Also, the SCGF did not receive funding this year and did not have an application.
  21. I did this for this year and just waiting to hear back for the results. Most of the essays were pretty short and not difficult to write at all with the exception of the research proposal for the NSF GRF. That definitely required the most thought and time but if you start now you will be more than fine. I started all 3 applications in September while balancing a Fulbright application, 14 grad school applications, and studying for the general GRE and subject GRE. Good luck with the application process.
  22. Hey so someone posted in the results search that they were still waiting to hear back from Caltech. I called earlier today and they said if you haven't heard back yet, they are still making a decision on your application. They also said you could hear back as late as April but hopefully they send out more admissions before the March visiting weekend. On a different note, is anyone else visiting Stanford next Thursday, March 7th?
