There are around 200 schools offering the MFA, most in the top 100 are pretty decent and the USNEWS ranking is fickle at best.  Alignment of direction. philosophy, expectations, career goals to the school mission is MOST important.  Many overlook great schools and only consider a "sacred" few that treat most students like cannon fodder. 

Frustrated with my tiny touch screen at the moment...realized I've accidentally given some arrow down reputation ratings that were meant to be up! Anyone know how to undo that?

I can't believe I forgot to mention the school I'm at now-- West Virginia University!

I really love it here, and would get an MFA here too if I could.  It is also a huge University, about an hour from Pittsburgh, and also has good funding (I had full tuition art scholarships for undergrad).  

Another FANTASTIC reason you should look into it is because the head of the painting department is Naijun Zhang-- from China!  He is an amazing painter, and has a great appreciation for classical painting.  His work is quite similar to Vermeer. 
OTher professors in the painting department are much more conceptually focused, so there is a nice balance between traditional and contemporary art.

You could probably email Naijun and ask him questions about it, he is extremely helpful. 

MICA Graphic Design acceptances also just dropped today, at least one rolled into my inbox a few hours ago.  Tough decision to make now: RISD or MICA?

I'll be honest. I think O'Malley has a good shot at winning because, in my opinion, he possesses the essential qualities needed, and any conclave seriously considering the Church would have to give him a real solid look. That said, there are *other* cardinals with equal virtues who would do very well in the position, and while I believe O'Malley would be excellent, I can't say he's the only one who would be.
 
My great hope is that it's not an Italian.

one question, were interviews required for Ohio State and SVA?
because in my case, when school A says on their website they will interview the finalists and I heard nothing yet, it would be logical to assume it is a rejection for me?

He's offering a word of hope to those of us who are praying, while you're just being rude. instead of trying to antagonize people, why don't you offer something that's actually helpful?

Umm, wouldn't you instead not like the applicants attitude, rather than the forum itself?

But for real, I am sure glad you stalked this forum for probably months and decided to give us your two cents after you 'got something' so you would feel inferior to the rest of us, dick!

Have a great time either A, living in dumptown Ohio and letting your 'free ride' take you nowhere or B, paying with your asshole at SVA where ultimately - even when trying to buy your way in - you will end up with a masters in serving cafe mochas. This will be fitting because most likely, anything you produce, will never make outside the walls of your place of employment. Unless, you throw it to the curb, where it will better be served as a urinal for some stray animal.
