Panache got a reaction from SocialPubHealth in PhD in Public Health
Hi congratulations to everyone who has received acceptances thus far. Those of you who have received offers from Hopkins HBS, I would welcome a discussion around what kind of funding they are offering people, how to manage making up the difference on a partially funded offer. I was offered 75% with no stipend but the opportunity to apply for NIH grants, or TA'ships. I have no experience with the feasibility of this actually covering all my costs. I would be tremendously appreciative of anyone's guidance in this area. Feel free to PM me anytime.

Panache got a reaction from justastudent in Fordham v. Columbia
You are going to do fine with either but I would say if Fordham is comperably expensive go columbia.
I went to Columbia and loved it and now I am about to enter into a PhD there for social work.

Panache got a reaction from BritPhD in PhD hopefools?
Does not sound realistic at all. What would be their motivation? Reputation is so important in this world and for them to do that would be a tragic mistake. I have never heard of a school doing such a thing with out a reason such as academic dishonesty, lying or legal troubles. Just send them an e-mail and if you must, call the admissions office.

Panache reacted to erzsi83 in PhD in Public Health
Anyone out there applying to public health PhD programs? I'm applying to mostly Health Policy & Management programs, with a few global health and public policy thrown in the mix. Would love to hear about others' experiences with the process as we're nearly the application deadlines! Cheers!

Belafish, I think you put it nicely when you say that this is an exhausting process. The good part is that we are so close to being done.
I was accepted over the weekend to Hopkins HBS program.
To everyone who applied, CHECK THE WEBSITE they do not always send and e-mail of notification that a decision has been reached. In my case I received notification from the program coordinator and then it was updated on the website but there was no e-mail to tell me a decision had been reached!
