since we're up to our necks in the waiting process now, we've had a lot of negative vibes on this board lately, so i wanted to share one of my favorite things ever: the calming manatee.

calming manatee loves you unconditionally. it wants to make sure you're nourishing your body, as well as your mind and soul.

calming manatee agrees: it's totally jerky of adcomms to make you wait so long, after you put so much work into your applications.

still, calming manatee is just as realistic as you are, and understands that sometimes a tasty beverage is the best solution.

in general, this is now a thread full of soothing and smile-inducing things from around the interwebs. waiting and decision-making are really stressful, so i think we all owe it to ourselves to create a little refuge of good vibes to temporarily distract us all from the swirling vortex of dismay, worry, and apprehension.

glad i could bring some happiness to you guys! as a little instant karma, i just received an acceptance from my top choice program, so i'm taking this as scientific proof that the calming manatee works.

i'm 22, and will be when i start my MA program. i'm using this year to work so i won't feel so green going into it- most people assumed i'm taking time off because i would be relatively young (21 isn't the youngest, but it's on the young side of the spectrum), but it's because i knew that i'd be surrounded by students who had a lot more professional experience than i did, and life experience in general, so i didn't want to be totally clueless.

i got my first rejection last friday, and it really didn't bother me at all. wasn't my favorite, and i was in the middle of a nice long weekend with my S.O., so it was nice to actually have another definitive answer. on the one hand, i feel like i can handle any/all rejections that ensue, and maybe even deal with the cryptic limbo that is being waitlisted.. but on the other hand, i'm a little nervous that i'll still have an emotional outpouring if my two favorites shut me down. at this point, the two responses i've gotten have made me totally greedy- i just want some more answers! hah.

more than anything, the poor attitudes and extreme stress i'm seeing on the results boards and in the forum posts here are driving me nuts. i think it's time to make a calming manatee thread...

Rejected from two PhD programs post interview. Screw this whole process....

Now all I can interview is for masters programs? So what, I can be a LPC and work while I feel the failure of never getting a PhD program succumb me? I hate this process. 2 rejections post interview for PhD, 3 masters programs pending and a disgust that won't leave me. Oh yeah and a pitiful waitlist for # 6 (yay :sarcasm:).

So what do I do now? Beg to get off waitlist? Maybe if I fly over for their Masters program interview and speak to PhD program they might see I have dedication? Hell I don't know....

maybe I should give up, get a PhD in leadership (education) LOL..the program is only 2 years! then laugh at other people who took the "rigorous" 5+ yr route...har har har...someone fill up my vodka!!! Cause I am going into education...

or should I beg for NMSU (New Mexico) Phd program....I can't bear all these rejections. I flippin went to Julliard and Calarts, I'm talented...i should have stayed as a professional dancer/choreographer.

what to do....oh maybe get a refill on my drink so I can drown in my sorrows. Sounds good
